Totally not sure how to rate this.
It starts out pretty good, adventure, interesting character, fantasy, magic. But somewhere it took a darker turn. Some of the story is very intriguing but I just didn't like where it went.

More fantastic prose from my favourite fantasy writer
A wonderful sorry written beautifully. If you are a fan of Robin Hobb, this is a must read. Be warned it’s a different world than her Realm of the Elderlings series, but it’s a great story wit great characters.

Keep going
A bit dry in the beginning but enjoyed the ending. Robin Hobb always leaves great breadcrumbs that come to fruition that doesn’t disappoint

Has become one of my favourite authors
I’ve read Robin Hobb’s other series and am so glad that this one also lives up to the standard of storytelling that I’ve enjoyed.
It’s so refreshing to find an original idea. I hope Robin keeps them coming!

just slow and boring
it's always a shame when a good writer falls victim to the way publisher pay by the word it becomes very evident because instead of enjoying the books you find yourself wishing for it to end I've liked Robin Hobbs series but this one is truly boring avoid it and save yourself the time and money. when writing builds a story and a framework it's okay to have lots of detail but when describing someone's day with such detail it just becomes a very dry read. I suspect books 1 to 3 should have been one book and they loaded it with filler and made it three.
