À propos de cet audio
A Death Korps Audiobook
Vraks is an armoury world that is vital to the struggling Imperium and its efforts to resist the wider threats to humanity. The planet is a key link in the long supply chain that keeps the beleaguered Imperial regiments stationed around the Eye of Terror and ready for war.
The stoic Death Korps of Krieg have been assigned to this desperate world's defence. The grim soldiers of this regiment are born to serve the Emperor, as below Krieg’s irradiated surface is a human factory, existing only to produce soldiers destined for the front line in the Imperium’s most toxic and gruelling warzones. These indoctrinated soldiers are unflinchingly loyal and willing to sacrifice themselves without question or regard to ultimately win victory.
And they will need all these qualities to face the horrors awaiting them on Vraks…
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
Understand just how the Death Korps of Krieg have earned their reputation as the Imperium’s most ruthless fighters in this gripping tale of desperate defence and defiant loyalty. Even when all seems lost, new ways to survive and fight are unearthed, as an officer named Tyborc, expecting to die, finds a new way to live.
THE STORY
Vraks has fallen.
Mustering an army from the ranks of the Death Korps of Krieg, the Astra Militarum embarks on a long and desperate siege to save the planet from the madness of an apostate preacher. It will last seventeen years, cost the lives of millions, and attract the attention of daemons and heretics alike, but the Death Korps must claw back victory, inch by bloody inch, from the hands of the enemy.

On the prison world of Zartak, darkness has fallen on arbitrators and inmates alike. The Night Lords have come, bringing with them the shadow of fear and pain. But these monsters are not the only ones with an interest in Zartak. From the void, running on silent, another fleet emerges. These Space Marine warriors are grey-clad and white-faced, and their eyes are as black as the Outer Dark – the savage Carcharodon Astra.

After seven long years of conflict, the Horus Heresy nears its end. But now, as the Warmaster Horus marches on Terra to rip his father from the Throne, the seat of the arch-traitor’s power lies empty. Cthonia, a world once dominated by brutal murder-gangs, is occupied by the Emperor’s praetorians—the indomitable Imperial Fists. For the Sons of Horus, this outrage demands a reckoning.

Monotonous Droning
it's an actual grind to listen too.
my gripes include
no "characters" are distinguishable by voice as in they all have the same 2 voices, either man or woman, the only individual voice is the techpriest who is barely distinguishable as a techpriest by what should be his robotic voice..
its hard to tell when any male character is speaking because the male voice is the same as all the narration.
probably the worst 40k book I have listened to out of 70 or so its just so uninteresting in a way it doesn't deserve to be considering the subject is a massive battle and the massive battle books usually keep to a brisk pace and loads of action, this is a slow and deliberately applied grind on the enemy and your ears unfortunately
I hated the voice acting it is a monotonous drone but it seems like its all due to the voice direction because this voice actor isn't that bad in other books son of the forest was pretty good in my opinion
the pacing and involvement in the action shows broad strokes but not really entering the cool action too much, it mainly happens offscreen as the lines move forward and back but not in front of the eyes of the "character" the listener finds themselves with, which changes all the time which can be hard to tell the viewpoint has changed because again the men all have the same voice including the narrator for the action
its told in such a detached way that makes me feel like it's a report being presented at a board meeting for executives.
there is no emotion at tense moments, no awe at amazing sights, no terror seeing horrifying disasters.
it's all so dispassionatly spoken its all so matter of fact, no matter what emotion it tells you the character feels, you feel nothing as the monotonous drone of all of this it bores into you
