À propos de cet audio
The first complete audio recording in English of the spiritual text of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib with beautiful, soothing background music.
This relaxing recording enables an English-speaking audience to understand and experience the spiritual wisdom of the Sikh Faith. Play selected tracks from it, listen to it in its entirety or put the album on repeat to create a continuous vibration of peace and tranquility in your home or other space.
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is more than just a scripture. The Sikhs regard and respect the Granth (holy book) as their living Guru. The revealed holy text spans 1,430 pages and contains the actual words spoken by the founders of the Sikh way of life.
The Sikh Gurus incorporated not only their own sacred poetry, but also included the poems of another 30 saints from different religions, places and times.
These songs are set to 31 different musical scales, called ragas, that evoke the feelings of different times of day, different emotions and the seasons of the year.
The Guru Granth Sahib is now considered to be the "perpetual Guru" as there are no longer individual gurus who head the Sikh tradition. The sacred poetry and teachings contained in the Guru Granth Sahib are the final authority in Sikh spirituality and tradition.
Listening to these songs of wisdom evokes feelings of peace and contentment in the listener. The words speak of eternal truths and the nature of reality. The background accompaniment is comprised of nature sounds and soothing spiritual music.
The English translation of the original text is by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa, except for the opening verses known as “Japji Sahib” which have been translated by Guruka Singh Khalsa. The readers include recording artists Sirgun Kaur and Sat Kirn Kaur along with SikhNet founders Guruka Singh and Gurumustuk Singh and others.

Banda Singh Bahadur appeared in Sikh history for a relatively short period (1708-1716) but, after the Sikh gurus, influenced it more significantly than any other individual. Banda Singh Bahadur is among the most colourful and fascinating characters in Sikh history. From an ascetic he was transformed into Guru Gobind Singh’s most trusted disciple. So much so that when the seriously injured guru could not lead his Sikh army against the Mughal forces, he appointed Banda Singh Bahadur as his deputy.

The Light We Give lays out how we can learn to integrate ethical living to achieve personal happiness and a happier life. It speaks to those who are inspired to take on positive change but don’t know where to begin. To those who crave the chance to be empathetic but are afraid of looking vulnerable. To those who seek the courage to confront hatred with love and compassion. Singh reaches beyond his comfort zone to practice this deeper form of living and explores how everyone can learn the insights and skills that have kept him engaged and led him to commit to activism.

These 1028 poems, grouped as 10 ‘Circles’ (mandalas), have variously been called hymns, poems or songs by Sanskrit scholars. The Rik (so pronounced by the ancient Angirases clans, or Seer-Priest families) was an experiment with sound. The emphasis is always on sounding the words perfectly. The focus tends to be on the ideas rather than on the authors in Vedic literature, they are largely religious in nature, reflecting the world view and spiritual preoccupations of ancient India.

In the Upanishads, illumined sages share flashes of insight, the results of their investigation into consciousness itself. In extraordinary visions, they experience directly a transcendent Reality which is the essence, or Self, of each created being. They teach that each of us, each Self, is eternal, deathless, one with the power that created the universe.

Histoire
The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

Histoire
By the end of the nineteenth century, India was described as the jewel in the crown of the British Empire, but how did such a small island come to dominate one of the richest lands in the world? Without doubt the toughest opponents to British control was led by the Sikhs. Ranjit Singh, the brilliant "Lion of Punjab" who ruled the Sikh Empire, had revolutionized his army by employing French officers from Napoleon's Grand Army to train his artillery and infantry on the European model.

Histoire
Said to be the world's longest poem, Mahabharata was originally composed in 100,000 Sanskrit verses by the ancient Indian sage Vyasa. Revered as a sacred text within Hinduism, it contains the great spiritual teaching Bhagavad-gita. Krishna Dharma has condensed the epic into a fast paced novel that fully retains the majestic mood of the original. A powerful and moving tale, it recounts the history of the five heroic Pandava brothers, sons of the Emperor Pandu.

Histoire
The Bhagwat Gita is the main sourcebook on yoga and is a concise summary of India’s Vedic wisdom. Yet, remarkably, the setting for this classic spiritual text is an ancient Indian battlefield. In this interpretation of the Gita, the author explains that the essence of the Gita is the equanimity of mind, which is attained by transcending it because mind consciousness is myopic and only spiritual consciousness abounds in universal love and absolute knowledge.
