An exciting political thriller; over too soon.
Padmé deserved better than she got from Lucas, and this book delivers. Sadly it ends a little too abruptly! I'd love to hear more about Sabé.

Great for Prequels Fans, but not really anyone else
It’s like watching C- Span with some sound effects. Now I happen to enjoy Padmé quite a lot and so I enjoyed watching her in her element, but I can’t even recommend this to other Star Wars fans. It falls flat in lot of ways; but I liked it. Listen if you like the politics of the prequels and Padmé doing them.

For Padme fans only
Padme is not my favorite yet I still enjoyed this book. A great listen for those who want to know more about the mother of Leia.

well done
I liked how her story was largely separate from other major events happening around her, beyond her control, which occurred during the same time period. Sorry for being vague, but I didn't want to write a spoiler! :)

Its OK, but not for EVERY Star Wars fan
Queens Shadow was a very slow listen for me.
I'd reccomend this book to Padme fans and Star Wars SUPER FANS.

Padme's depth
Opportunities for Padme's character to have depth are always welcome, and this is a great example. Catherine Taber (Padme's voice in the Clone Wars) is excellent to really bring you the story and have it feel very true to the character.

Could have been better.
This was a hard book to finish. I found the narrator very bland in her performance. I'm also not a big fan of the writing style. E.K. Johnston is just okay. She has good ideas for the big picture but the small moments with the characters are very boring. Too many scenes describing the attire of the characters and the characters moods are very basic. To be fair though, I'm a middle aged man and this is a YA novel, so I have particular tastes. My daughters might enjoy the overall book more than I did.

Evil? I’ve fought evil before it was easy, I shot it. It’s apathy I can’t stand. - Padmé Amidala
It’s wasn’t as good as queens peril, but still interesting, I really loved the quote above. Similar to smhi’s quote in phantom menace “The problem with the galaxy is that people don’t help each other”. Built on themes used in the movies, Ek Johnson clearly cares about and loves Star Wars.

Great character study, no story
