À propos de cet audio

Anatta is the Buddhist teaching on the nonexistence of a permanent, independent self. It's a notoriously puzzling and elusive concept, usually leading to such questions as, "If I don't have a self, who's reading this sentence?" It's not that there's no self there, says Rodney Smith. It's just that the self that is reading this sentence is a configuration of elements that at one time did not exist and that at some point in the future will disperse. Even in its present existence, it's more a temporary arrangement of components rather than something solid.

Anatta is a truth the Buddha considered to be absolutely essential to his teaching. Smith shows that understanding this truth can change the way you relate to the world and that the perspective of selflessness is critically important for anyone involved in spiritual practice. Seeing it can be the key to getting past the idea that spirituality has something to do with self-improvement and to accessing the joy of deep insight into reality.

and Stepping into zero point, now.

I didn’t think that this was the book that would be a pillar to uncovering so much truth of the experience of life. There is not time, past and future as it’s always only experienced now. As a being who is on earth the experience of life happens only now in the vertical dimension. The phenomenon of time passing is so alluring and a true sensation of our being in our bodies , though like the taste of a good meal happens only when we’re consciously participating in its passing through thoughts. Thoughts about today tomorrow yesterday and the like.
It’s like trying to draw ourselves on a map when all we can really occupy is the single point on the map representing our body. The map being a representation of what we can comprehend, when we have stepped out of self deception.

Everyone should read it.

I gave it the rating of
overall 4 stars because like ourselves more is still left to be expressed.

Performance of 5 because that’s not for the me to take away. My thoughts about what the book should or should not be.

Story of 5 , again because it’s not my story but a story and so I have not a need to change it.

Grateful for Rodney Smith

As a lay-Buddhist, this is the best book I've ever heard or read. It is currently the most influential in the practice.
