À propos de cet audio
No time to read? Get the main key insights from this summary of Nedra Glover Tawwab’s Set Boundaries, Find Peace in just a short listen.
A few key insights from Chapter 1:
1. We live in a burnout culture in which people deplete their energy to the point of exhaustion and depression. Making a list and organizing your week can provide insights on how much you need to do and how much you can do.
2. Sometimes saying no is difficult, but this can impact your life negatively as anxiety rises when you stretch yourself too thin. Learning when to say yes or no is essential to feeling comfortable with others and yourself.
3. Boundaries allow you to feel safe and calm in relationships, setting certain expectations and needs that help you stay emotionally and mentally well. Otherwise, overwhelming feelings, resentment, avoidance, and other issues can ensue.
4. Avoidance is a result of a lack of boundaries, causing people to delay dealing with issues, in a passive-aggressive way. This will not prevent conflicts, and might prolong the only solution, which is learning how to be assertive while communicating your limitations to others.
