À propos de cet audio
The blockbuster DC Icons series that began with Leigh Bardugo's Wonder Woman, Marie Lu's Batman, and Sarah J. Maas' Catwoman continues with the story of the world's first superhero - Superman - from award-winning and number-one New York Times best-selling author Matt de la Peña.
When the dawn breaks, a hero rises.
His power is beyond imagining.
Clark Kent has always been faster, stronger - better - than everyone around him. But he wasn't raised to show off, and drawing attention to himself could be dangerous. Plus, it's not like he's earned his powers...yet.
But power comes with a price.
Lately, it's difficult to hold back and keep his heroics in the shadows. When Clark follows the sound of a girl crying, he comes across Gloria Alvarez and discovers a dark secret lurking in Smallville. Turns out, Clark's not the only one hiding something.
Teaming up with his best friend, Lana Lang, he throws himself into the pursuit of the truth.
What evil lies below the surface of his small town? And what will it cost Clark to learn about his past as he steps into the light to become the future Man of Steel?
Because before he can save the world, he must save Smallville.

Naturally, that doesn't last. When Peter learns that his old enemy, the Rhino, is on a rampage in Times Square, he suits up as Spider-Man to stop the destructive villain in his tracks. But he's unexpectedly foiled in his attempts by the Black Cat, a former ally and old flame. The Cat informs Peter that the Rhino is just a distraction - the real threat comes from a group of Ancients.

Ce que les critiques en disent
"A wonderful, bold interpretation of a DC icon that aspires to embrace all readers, new and old." (Kirkus Reviews)
“In his brilliant take on Superman, de la Peña shows us that there’s a chance we’ll all need to step up like Clark Kent - with or without a cape.” (Jason Reynolds, New York Times best-selling author of Miles Morales: Spider-Man and Long Way Down)
“Matt de la Peña’s Superman is the quintessential American alien. Despite being caught between two worlds, he’s everything we love about the Man of Steel: courageous, compassionate, and full of hope.” (Gene Luen Yang, author of New Super-Man and National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature)

The Last Son of Krypton
My first ever Audible experience, and I got to start it with The Man of Steel. It almost mirrored the events of the famous DC series Smallville but an audio version. The relationship that Clark (Kal-El) has with his adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent was beautiful. His buddy cop relationship with Lana Lang was hilarious. The one relationship that hit me was the one with Gloria. I can't lie I'd treat her like a princess, My Princess.
That moment when he found out that he was from another planet, hit deep but especially that special moment he shared with Gloria was just beautiful 😍.
Then the moment I was waiting for... The Superman suit. and his mom describing how she made the suit was just... again beautiful.
I can't wait to venture into the other DC books like Batman and Wonder Woman.
I hope there are more versions. We need Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Flash and etc.
DC 4 Ever!!!

Do not waste your time with this turd
This book was utterly devoid of anything resembling entertainment. Not only was there no Superman like action until the very last hour but a large part of the book revolved around illegal immigration and now being against it is racist.
The author neglects to mention any of the dangers associated with illegal immigration: rising unemployment levels, housing crisis, lowering of wages, unsustainable debt on taxpayers, increased violent crime, illegal drugs and guns, and Mexico and South American countries emptying their prisons into America.
Save your money for something enjoyable.
