Most memorable book.
a really good look into the imperial Moff Tarkin and his life and the events that shaped him. very good use of existing characters in the Empire and gives quite a bit of back story to other characters as well.

How Tarkin became Grand Moff Tarkin
One of the better books of the new canon.
The performances are decent for the most part. Although sometimes I had trouble distinguishing this reader's voice as Tarkin from some of the other minor characters. The Darth Vader and Palpatine performances are solid. The Tarkin voice is also quite good.
The story is basically the biography of Tarkin from youth up to the point that he he becomes Grand Moff. The story wasn't that amazing or grand but it serves to establish and develop Tarkin as a character. It was alright given that this only partially bridges the gap from Episode 3 to Episode 4. There are a lot of politics and inner workings of the Empire. Also a great cast of characters as Vader, Palpatine, and Tarkin work well off of each other.
All things considered the book is good. One of the first books of the TCW established canon from when it was sold to Disney, and one of the better canon books at that. If you pick up any canon book then definitely get this one. I actually wish that there were more Tarkin books.

seems to be older continuity due to lack of certain people and events, but an amazing story about the character and his background.

Enjoyable
Overall a good listen. I found it to be a good Origin and lead up to the movies for Tarkin, though it felt like it was missing something I cannot place. otherwise enjoyable and certainly worthwhile.

Ok story, lackluster performance
story was ok, but the performance was a bit weak. All the north American accents sounded like they were said by a robot or through a text to speech editor.

AWESOME!
Gives background to Tarkin who was a main character in the 77 film. It doesn't wander off , it stays true to the Star Wars story

Love star wars? Great! you'll love this book! The book has left me wanting more, the only thing I disliked was the fact that the story ended short of my expectations in the timeline. but overall it is a very great Brook!
