The Copper Beeches: When Violet Hunter, who has been a governess for about five years, receives a rather strange job offer, she seeks the help of Holmes. The job offers her double the money, but asks her to do some odd things, which also involve cutting her hair. She wants to take up the job, but wants assurance from Holmes for support in case she needs it. Holmes and Watson assure her that they will help. They indeed do hear from her very soon.
