The official editions of the King James contained the books of the Apocrypha until 1796. Most printers did not clear inventories and change to the 66-book version we know today until the mid 1800's.
Etymologically, the word "apocrypha" means "things that are hidden", but why they were hidden is not clear. Some have suggested that the books were "hidden" from common use because they contained esoteric knowledge, too profound to be communicated to any except the initiated...others have suggested that such books were hidden due to their spurious heretical teaching.

The pronunciation of places and names could have been better. howbeit Mel did a good job.

Great Content BUT
The Apocryphal Books are always a good read. The audio was terrific and its content great HOWEVER, there's no point of reference, there's no way to find a specific book, simply labeled chapter 1, 2,3 etc... I would like to see Chapter ## The Book Of Enoch, or Chapter ## Macabees, I have no idea where anything is except when the chapter audio starts.

Author's notes need to go.
Good if not for the constant interruption of the often ridiculous author's notes. Narration is decent, good voice for this book. I do hear the odd name that doesn't sound as I believe it should, but who am I to say? if 4.5 was an option...
Also needs named chapters.

The narration is ok!
There’s no title by chapter in the selection menu nor the narrator expose in the reading … so yeah, chapter 13 but of what book ???
It makes the navigation thru the books very very hard…
