À propos de cet audio
Charlotte Holmes, Lady Sherlock, is back solving new cases in the Victorian-set mystery series from the USA Today best-selling author of The Hollow of Fear.
As "Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective," Charlotte Holmes has solved murders and found missing individuals. But she has never stolen a priceless artwork - or rather, made away with the secrets hidden behind a much-coveted canvas.
But Mrs. Watson is desperate to help her old friend recover those secrets and Charlotte finds herself involved in a fever-paced scheme to infiltrate a glamorous Yuletide ball where the painting is one handshake away from being sold and the secrets a bare breath from exposure.
Her dear friend Lord Ingram, her sister Livia, Livia's admirer Stephen Marbleton - everyone pitches in to help and everyone has a grand time. But nothing about this adventure is what it seems and disaster is biding time on the grounds of a glittering French chateau, waiting only for Charlotte to make a single mistake...

She’ll have help from friends new and old—a kind-hearted widow, a police inspector, and a man who has long loved her.

Ce que les critiques en disent
“These books, which recast Sherlock Holmes as Charlotte Holmes, are perfect for those who adore layered stories. Unignorable questions of gender, expectation and privilege lurk beneath complex mysteries and a slowly scorching romance.” (The Washington Post)
“Fast-paced storytelling and witty prose add further appeal for those who like their historical mysteries playful." (Publishers Weekly)
“Thoughtful yet brief remarks critique patriarchy, heteronormativity, and colonialism, fitting organically into an absorbing whodunwhat arc. An exciting addition to the mystery series; Holmes meets Oceans 11 meets A Vindication of the Rights of Woman.” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review)

Another intriguing mystery
once again I enjoyed the adventures of Ms. Holmes and co.pany. This one had a little more romance than I like but still very good.

I loved most of it
It bored me a bit she spoiler spends too much time on them trying to figure it all out doing the theft. And yet she is great at just enough time on Character building but she does wine or whine a bit about Ms.Watson's being in love with the Maharani. But, without going to the past it makes you feel as if you are missing something, and rounding out her story of them. No reverie Of the past yet it would have been welcomed. I found it a bit hard to sit through but by the end, I found relief lol. It's not as good as her previous one. Felt a wee bit too long to me.
But you may enjoy far more than I,I hope

Brilliant!
Rich characters, complex storyline, twist, turns and brilliant deductions. Love the author's writing style, in particular I find her clever in jokes and smart remarks hilarious. Can't put these down. Excellent series and refreshing twist to the original Sherlock Holmes character.

A great story.
Miss Charlotte Holmes and her supporters have a grand adventure in France. It is a wonderfully crafted historical mystery filled with charming and quirky characters. The narrative is well written and allows the reader to visualize the setting and engage in the story. The characters are complex, with multiple layers complete with strengths and weaknesses. The mystery is complicated, filled with multiple storylines, interesting subtle clues, numerous viable suspects, surprising twists and turns, dangerous situations and suspense, holding your interest until the end. I enjoyed the character interactions, drama, continued character development, and romantic overtures. I can hardly wait until the next book.
