À propos de cet audio
This funny opposites-attract lesbian romance digs up the awkward truth about what really matters in life.
Ambitious ice queen and corporate lawyer Felicity Simmons has spent her life focused on one thing: scuttling up the career ladder. She's achingly close to taking charge of a media empire for her boss when she's sent to investigate a South Bronx charity that helps homeless people's pets. Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Not that Felicity has any interest in some opinionated Amazon or her adorable fleabag of a dog.
Felicity is quite sure she will not be distracted, thank you very much. She has a minor mystery to solve, a mentor to impress, and her life's dream to fulfil. Even if a distraction might be exactly what she needs.
The Awkward Truth takes place during the last half of Lee Winter's The Brutal Truth but can easily be listened to as a standalone story.

AMAZING
**This review might contain mild spoilers**
Wow. Just f***ing WOW! I held off on this one, admittedly because the cover was off-putting (yes, I’m the type to buy things like wine based on how eye-catching the label is, so sue me!). I don’t know why I couldn’t get past the cover, the same thing happened to me with The Brutal Truth and I was completely wowed by that one too. Now that I finally got over my cover aversion, I am absolutely blown away – unsurprisingly – by Lee Winter’s constantly masterful delivery of amazing stories. Winter had me smiling, laughing, even shedding a few tears at one particularly relatable part – all while manning a forklift, and that’s saying something!
The characters were excellent, they weren’t just deep and well-developed, but they feel so REAL, absolutely tangible. I loved them both and even though I would absolutely love to see some of the story from Cooper’s perspective and get her take on Felicity, I can actually say that I don’t begrudge the single POV in this book, it was absolutely fantastic. Felicity is hilarious and the idea of an ice queen who is, of all things, a closeted animal lover? Honestly, I loved it. I also really enjoyed how open and receptive Felicity was to considering things outside of her norm and owning up to her shortcomings. Cooper was amazing, kind-hearted and so understanding and compassionate. Their chemistry was amazing and I loved the consideration of different body types and the body positivity that was written into their relationship and enjoyment of each other, it was f***ing beautiful! I’m not griping on romances between two unicorns (you know, those model-hot, yet somehow single, lesbian goddesses), I love those too, but it’s nice to see characters that aren’t that societal “perfect” as well.
Another absolutely wonderful aspect of the book was the focus on the homeless and their relationship to their animals. I love the look at what their lives can really be like and the things that can cause those circumstances. It was great to see both sides of the coin, both the commonly held biases against homelessness and people’s reactions to it when they’re faced with it, and also the reasons why those biases and reactions can be so flawed. It was a really excellent take on it, I certainly appreciated that aspect of the book as well.
Oh, and lest I forget, the sex was hot AF ;)
So yes, yes, yes, 100 times yes, I HIGHLY recommend reading or listening to this one!
