Waxillium Ladrian is recruited to travel south to the city of New Seran to investigate. Along the way he discovers hints that point to the true goals of his uncle Edwarn and the shadowy organization known as The Set.

so we'll written
I have been a larger fan of mistborn era 1 up to the point, but wow does this book ever shake that conception. the details are so clean and well planned, the ending unexpected yet inevitable. if you enjoyed any of the other mistborn books this one won't disappoint.

Favourite so far!
I must say, out of all the books in the Mistborn Era 2 series, this particular one has quickly become my favorite. The way it has expanded the world and woven in so much action and adventure is simply captivating.
What's more, the character of Steris is an absolute delight and her relationship with Wax is beautifully portrayed throughout the book, making it all the more engaging and immersive.

Solid 3rd addition
Great 3rd addition to the series. Character growth is ever present which is still wonderful to feel.

Best of era 2 so far
If the quality of this series continues, The Lost Metal will be something special! I'm all caught up and ready for book 4 next month.
The growth of so many characters was wonderful to see in this story. Wax, Wayne, Maraci, and Steris all experienced some kind of breakthrough. Also, the introduction of another culture of people on Scadrial is super cool!

Wayne is Hilarious
Perhaps the best one-word description for this 'Mistborn'-reality adventure is "fun". Brandon Sanderson offers a noticeably "steampunk" entry in his 'Wax and Wayne' series of stories set in Scadrial - a fascinating world in Sanderson's galaxy-encompassing 'Cosmere' reality.
In this book, Waxillium Ladrian and his team of ne'er-do-well "lawmen" travel to a mysterious city in search of legendary magic-bestowing artifacts known as Bands of Mourning. The quest leads them on a twisty-turny combat-heavy adventure.. punctuated with laugh-out-loud commentary from Wax's irreverent companions - loaded with ribald sexual innuendo.
As to presentation: Michael Kramer's typical near-psychic understanding of Sanderson's intentions continues. Bravo, MacMillan Audio and Mr. Kramer.
Altogether, this book is a little bit less consequential to Sanderson's overall story arc than other entries, but 'The Bands Of Mourning' merits 9 stars out of 10. It was a brilliant way to spend a couple of quiet late winter afternoons.
