À propos de cet audio
INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX
Defense attorney Mickey Haller and Detective Harry Bosch must either work together or die as they investigate a Hollywood lawyer's murder in this "epic page-turner" (Library Journal).
Things are finally looking up for defense attorney Mickey Haller. After two years of wrong turns, Haller is back in the courtroom. When Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent is murdered, Haller inherits his biggest case yet: the defense of Walter Elliott, a prominent studio executive accused of murdering his wife and her lover. But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.
Enter Harry Bosch. Determined to find Vincent's killer, he is not opposed to using Haller as bait. But as danger mounts and the stakes rise, these two loners realize their only choice is to work together.

Decent Crossover Connelly Novel
Lawyer Mickey Haller - Detective Harry Bosch - even an appearance by Reporter Jack McEvoy. If you're a fan of Michael Connelly you will recognize the characters in this story intimately. Connelly focuses on Haller to tell the story of a sensational out-of-the-headlines case involving the murder trial of a criminal enterprise-enmeshed high-powered Hollywood producer.
The book is relatively light on Connelly's signature in-depth exploration of his characters in their private lives, but demonstrates breakneck page-turning pacing, satisfying twisty-turny plotting, cinematic courtroom drama, and entertaining action-heavy investigation. Fans of Mr. Connelly will be pleased.
As to presentation: Reader Peter Giles delivers a professional enough performance with regards to diction, timbre, and voice-acting.. but displays an annoying iambic reading cadence and a too-serious/disinterested tone. Alternating stressed and relaxed voice inflections give the reading an irritating sing-song character, and Giles makes it quite clear that he's reading a text lying open on his lap while simultaneously giving the impression that his children's lives somehow depend on what the characters do. Hachette Audio Inc. should have cast the project better.
Altogether, despite noticeably subpar delivery, 'The Brass Verdict' is an enjoyable mystery-thriller audiobook - worth 8 stars out of 10. The musical bumpers at the ends of chapters are also as bothersome as other listeners imply - but I found them pretty easy to ignore. Spend the Credit.

Great!
Back to Michael Connelly! I skipped The Lincoln Lawyer because I've read it and seen the movie too many times now.
This is also a re-read for me. I love the Mickey Haller character. And - bonus - Harry Bosch is in this one, too!
The twist at the end was great. Classic Connelly.
The narrator, Peter Giles, is fantastic. He can create the gravelly Bosch voice I was expecting, as well as the smooth Haller voice and everything in between.
Next - onto The Scarecrow, the next McAvoy novel.
