À propos de cet audio

Two teenagers, strangers to each other, have decided to jump from the same bridge at the same time. But what results is far from straightforward in this absorbing, honest lifesaver from acclaimed author Bill Konigsberg.

Aaron and Tillie don't know each other, but they are both feeling suicidal, and arrive at the George Washington Bridge at the same time, intending to jump. Aaron is a gay misfit struggling with depression and loneliness. Tillie isn't sure what her problem is - only that she will never be good enough.

On the bridge, there are four things that could happen:

Aaron jumps and Tillie doesn't.

Tillie jumps and Aaron doesn't.

They both jump.

Neither of them jumps.

Or maybe all four things happen, in this astonishing and insightful novel from Bill Konigsberg

Konigsberg put so much heart into this, it shows.

I loved both Openly Straight as well as Honestly Ben, after enjoying them, they instantly become my new top books. I fell in love with those stories, I related, and is was done so well. Now. The Bridge. Both Aaron and Tillie are amazing characters, and Bill Konigsberg has done an amazing job, and as much as I love both characters, their stories, who they are, and what makes them feel the way they do, I felt myself drawn to Aaron, and his father. I never thought I would relate to a Character so much. For me, Aaron is the character. I love this book. It drives deeply into the pain of depression, and it doesn't gloss over it. This tells you it is horrible, and it doesn't have to be, and even though ending it may seem like the best option, this book shows you it isn't. I related so much to Aaron, his thoughts, his self blame, his blaming, and through this story, I felt crushed so much, during the moments where Aaron was hurt, was sad, it was the feeling I know, and never really, fully knew someone else had understood. Aaron's relationship with his father made me think, a lot, and during certain parts of this novel, this hit me in places I never even thought about. This book covers the "What if's?" and does it perfectly. I cried a lot during this novel, and certain parts, but in the end, the final moments as the final words were said, I was happy I listened. A note Konigsberg wrote about this book was: "In the end, I cannot say whether I succeeded or failed. That's up to readers. " After listening to this book. Experiencing this story, and seeing what would happen if they did jump, I can say, Bill Konigsberg did not only succeed in writing a fantastic novel, but helped me in a way I never thought I needed. I cannot write more without just repeating myself on how amazing of a job Konigsberg has done. Buy this novel, listen, hear this story, there is so much life in a book about suicide, it's something you need to hear, don't miss your chance to experience it, because I am happy I was still here to enjoy it, and I hope you are too.
