À propos de cet audio
Why do we say we have zero tolerance for bullying, but adult society is rife with it and it is an epidemic among children?
Because the injuries that all forms of bullying and abuse do to brains are invisible. We ignore them, fail to heal them, and they become cyclical and systemic.
Bullying and abuse are at the source of much misery in our lives. Because we are not taught about our brains, let alone how much they are impacted by bullying and abuse, we do not have a way to avoid this misery, heal our scars, or restore our health. In The Bullied Brain, listeners learn about the evidence doctors, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and neuroscientists have gathered, that shows the harm done by bullying and abuse to your brain, and how you can be empowered to protect yourself and all others. Not only is it critically important to discover how much your mental health is contingent on what has sculpted and shaped the world inside your head, it is also the first step in learning ways to recover.
While your brain is vulnerable to bullying and abuse, it is at the same time remarkably adept at repairing all kinds of traumas and injuries. The first part of The Bullied Brain outlines what the research shows bullying and abuse do to your brain. The second part of the book, "The Stronger Brain" provides case studies of adults and children who have undergone focused training to heal their neurological scars and restore their health. These accessible and practical lessons can be integrated into your life. Strengthening your brain acts as an effective antidote to the bullying and abuse that are rampant in society.
Foreword by Dr. Michael Merzenich, "the father of neuroplasticity," and he also contributes his knowledge, insights, and research in The Bullied Brain to help show you how to empower your brain to fulfill its power and potential.

Excellent read! Hard to put down.
I loved this book. It helped me to better understand how incredibly harmful bullying is on the brain and the body. Dr. Fraser’s personal story is both compelling and inspiring. The book is full of hope as she relays the neuroscience of brain plasticity and how we can heal our scars from past traumas and emerge better equipped to control our destiny. Jocelyn D

i gave it a high rating because it answers a need
to be addressed most genuinely and lovingly.
I liked the book and like anything else you need to focus on what you hear and take notes.
However, pro-active people want to move on and help themselves and progress.
There were many times when I did not hear the reference or doctor's name or tools or schools or studies
were not clear. I guess spelling the details and where to go would have lessened frustrations.
At this point, its been circling to find the right brain gym to the point that it was affecting my review here. But i took a step back and breathed in.....
SOO if you have tools it is best to give clear names and schools. ( or just spell the names, studies and schools)
Or else don't you think all this effort is diluted??
thank you again for your insights and bravery!

Everyone NEEDS this book.
This book brought me to tears reading. The empathy in the authors voice, the genuine way she spoke of her own trauma and that of strangers, the way she was able to make the listener understand the severity of how bullying, of any kind, affects our brain and the way that she gives you hope in believing that we CAN heal our brains of the awful ways someone else has altered it…..it in enlightens. This book isn’t just for those who have been bullied or been bullied themselves. It is for EVERYONE. Teachers, parents, coaches, health care workers, police officers, all humans. To understand people better. To treat people better. It is inspiring. It is empowering. And Jenn Fraser is the first author, in all of my readings, who has ever truly made me me feel like we CAN recover. That we CAN take our power back. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Not helpful if you are a teacher experiencing bullying
I picked this up as part of a journey to recover from experiencing bullying as a teacher and was repeatedly frustrated by the author’s tendency to scapegoat and condescend teachers without consideration for ways they themselves may be experiencing bullying (not least from parents) and are overwhelmed by the toxic environments and impossible workload they are carrying. Aside from some helpful information, I had to stop the book at chapter 5 and seek other forms of help.
