À propos de cet audio
The Butcher Shop Girl begins with Carmen’s unique coming-of-age as she’s ripped from her extended family after her Catholic parents’ divorce. Learning to conquer unusual places in the name of survival, Carmen spends her childhood working in her mother’s slaughterhouse in prairie Alberta, tearing through flesh and getting up to trouble. To escape a violent home, she bounces from house to house, working on the family farm, and eventually in the oil patch.
At 18, Carmen’s competitive craving for money and independence leads her to a career as an exotic dancer. Starting out in seedy small-town dives, she quickly earns her place in high-end clubs throughout North America, becoming an elite world-travelling entertainer. Carmen lives the high life and makes big money. She parties with the Hells Angels and falls in love with a sexy US drug enforcement agent - effortlessly walking the line of two extreme worlds. But when run-ins with premium organized crime land her in Bolivia, she realizes she’s gone too far, and the only thing that can free her is to ask her estranged family for help.
The Butcher Shop Girl is a compelling memoir of resilience and persistence that captures the vivacious spirit of a small-town girl determined to succeed by any means necessary.

Look no further and listen!
I listen to Auiobooks. I love them! They get me through my travels, workouts and daily errands or if you simply want an escape. It is just like reading a book but you can multitask and listen.👂🎶
"The Butcher Shop Girl" is an EASY listen. Claire Duncan delivers and effortlessly as a narrator! She really gets across what your wanting to feel potrayed in a character and in fact all the character's from a listeners point of view. The words come alive as you listen. 👍
I love that Brett kissel who is a special guest in the narration and is also a Canadian Country Music Artist! Very cool! He starts off each Chapter narrating the quotes. It gives the listener variety chapter to chapter. What a great addition! 🙌
This story does not have a dull moment and is very raw. I found it hard to shut this very honest story off or push pause when it was time to get back to life! When I did I would ponder about what I just listened too. You begin think and reflect about your own life trials and tribulations. Your own experiences growing up, your mistakes, your comebacks and your self value. BSG is simply well written, relatable and impactful.💓
You also get everything you could ask for in an audiobook and more! A great intro A.K.A opening credits, authors notes and dedications etc. You do not get that with all audiobooks. Most audiobooks I have listened to so far you get chapter 1-12 that's it. I feel that more is important in memoirs. It makes you feel like you have read every page of the book from cover to cover! Then the last chapter isnt JUST the last chapter either with an about the author, disclaimer, credits etc. I dig that in an audiobook. This book even has a playlist which gives you a feel for the story which I came across on the website with songs that sure bring me back! 😎
At one point I could not wait to finish it! I am sad that it is over. Bittersweet is the word. Now, what will I do ? What will I find to keep me so eager to keep listening! I recommend this listen to every one of all ages! If you want to loose yourself in an empowering story, then this listen is a great choice! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dynamically written and an intriguing listen
This narrative was so easy to listen to and spoken as dynamically as it was written. I really found myself lost in the story and details and was invested in Carmen as a person.. who is really, a piece of each of us. We all have a story and this well written book offered space to reflect. it was time really well spent!

However something tells me not to mess with her lol…
