À propos de cet audio

A Sunday Times best seller.

A house of secrets....

As a massive storm batters the Scottish coast, Gordon Smith’s home is falling into the sea. The trouble is: that’s where he’s been hiding the bodies.

A killer on the run....

It’s too dangerous to go near the place, so there’s no way of knowing how many people he’s murdered. Or how many more he’ll kill before he’s caught.

An investigator with nothing to lose....

As more horrors are discovered, ex-detective Ash Henderson is done playing nice. He’s got a killer to catch, and God help anyone who gets in his way.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"Stuart MacBride’s deft plotting and whipcrack dialogue, along with a strong sense of place, make The Coffinmaker’s Garden a must read. If you like your serial killers with lashings of dark humour, this is for you." (Peter Robinson, number one best-selling author of the DCI Banks series)

"The Coffinmaker's Garden is brilliantly creepy, with the most cleverly conceived crime scene I've ever read. His legions of fans will love this – it's an unmistakable Stuart MacBride cocktail of dark violence and even darker humour." (Jane Casey, Sunday Times best-selling author of The Cutting Place)

"A brutal, visceral read, laced with the blackest of humour and travelling to some very dark places." (Guardian)

great

I should probably say 4 or 4.5, but you know what? I enjoyed every second of this, unlike a lot of things I've read lately, so it's getting a 5.
I love Stuart McBride. His are the only books that I'm willing to buy both audio and paper copies of. I excitedly await each new offering. And they never disappoint. Some I enjoy more than others, but they're always good. There's something about the writing style- simultaneously gritty, down to earth and absurdly funny.
This was a wild ride. Primo serial killer thriller, with a creepy, believable villain or two or three and a protagonist who should drive me crazy, but somehow... Usually the messy maverick detective fills me with irrational rage. It kind of works, here, because he's not too messy, or too maverick. He does some dodgy stuff, but never crosses the line. And he loves his little doggy. That helps. His associates are wonderful, well developed characters. So are the other people who show up regularly in his life. The two villains for hire are an absolute delight.
The plot was compellingly and well paced and kept me thorough entertained cover to cover.

A 4 but not for me

I went between interested, bored, irritated back to interested throughout this book. There was a little bit too much filler content that sometimes I would lose the thread of the story.

Enjoyable But a little gory

This was a good book recommended by one of my favourite authors Kevin Hearne. Was a little more detailed in terms of bad things happening than what I was prepared for during a pandemic. That said, the story and characters were good and the reader is fantastic.

Excellent

The author takes a macabre subject, twists and turns it and adds in enough humour to make you smile without unnecessary descriptions of blood and gore. His writing is style is such that you can visualize the mundane portions of the scenes, making them interesting and humorous.
