À propos de cet audio

In the 21st century, the United States has all but used up its oil supply. A new source must be found. Our atomic subtugs begin stealing oil from underwater deposits in enemy territory. But none of the last 20 tugs sent to bring back the desperately needed mineral have returned. Ensign John Ramsey of the Bureau of Psychology is planted aboard the Fenian Ram S1881 as an electronics officer. His assignment: find the saboteur in the four-man crew and bring back the oil.©1956 Herbert Properties, LLC (P)2008 Tantor Aventure Fantastique Militaire

Herbert first book is amazing

The Dragon in the Sea

Many of you may have heard of Frank Herbert because of his epic Dune novels. Out of curiosity I decided to see what his first book was like.

From the beginning we are introduced to Ensign Ramsey. Who is a military psychologist and technician. Who is ordered to pose as a technician on a small 4 crew submarine. Call a Tug Sub.

Ramsey's main mission is to observe the mental wellbeing of the crew and captain. Captain Sparrow in particular has been implanted with a device that monitors him.

For Herberts first book I found it quite exultant. Captivating from the start. We are introduced to a 11 war town earth. That is different from the one we know. It has subterfuge, mystery and suspense. Herbert does a great job in creating an atmosphere that is believable. You can feel the water all around you.

This story mainly follows around one question. What is sanity? What is sane? At times of war are any of us sain? I love the one quote. A crazy man is one that Is drowning. A sane man is one who is swimming.

Without saying too much more. I do fully recommend this book. I found it very enjoyable. Scott Brick does a good job as narrator. I have heard him do a few books now. I find him very comfortable to listen to.

As ever, my deepest thanks to all involved in the creation, publication, production, distribution, and supporting both written and audiobook format.

Yours,
David Evil Midknight
