À propos de cet audio
Jason, Earl of Coventry, needs to discreetly locate his unwanted and abandoned bride among London society to request an annulment. Too bad he can't remember what she looks like because he was blind drunk at his arranged wedding and hasn't see her since.
Newly arrived from the country for the Season, Lady Olivia is appalled to discover that her own husband Lord Coventry doesn't even recognize her. She's not about to tell the arrogant arse she his wife. Instead, she flirts with him by night and has her modiste send her mounting bills to him by day.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, except Lady Olivia finds her husband nearly irresistible.

Good story, but over-acted by narrator
The narrator exaggerates expressiveness in her voice too much, to the point of being distracting and ridiculous in some cases. But still an enjoyable story.

The affect was too strong
I bet it was a very good story but had to stop shortly in. Although the narrator has a very pleasing voice the way certain, seemingly random, words were stressed sounded very forced and so couldn’t continue. This being said knowing everyone put themselves out there and I appreciate the making of art ends up being subjective. Thank you for the offerings!

An antidote to a gloomy day
I give a five star to this novel because :
It is so sweet to listen to and forget everything around. A classic yet very appealing story of love. With subtle twists and turns that makes you keep on following the story until the last page. Special thanks to Callie Hutton

Horrible reader
Grates as bad as a man reading a romance. Like fingernails on a chalkboard. Good that it’s free no one would pay money for this tripe.

Good story- terrible narration
Good plot overall but narrator’s attempt to personify other characters was comedic to put it mildly and quite annoying to listen to.

Changing Minds
The Elusive Wife is book one of Callie Hutton’s Marriage Mart Mayhem series. Hutton puts a twice on the marriage in trouble and second-chance romance tropes in this story. Jason and Olivia have never met and are forced to marry due to their fathers. For Jason, his father’s will stipulates that if he doesn’t marry Olivia within 3 days of her arriving in England, he’ll lose all the unentailed Coventry assets. On the other hand, Olivia agrees to marry her godfather’s son as it’s her father’s dying request.
Where the twist comes in, is that they never live as man and wife because Jason is blind drunk at his wedding and then abandons his wife the next more and returns to London. After a period spent in the country, Olivia travels to London to be with her best friend, only to discover that her husband doesn’t recognize her as his wife. Instead, Jason sees her as a beauty he wants to have for his own.
It’s fun to read how Jason chases his own wife, not knowing who she is and then once he does, he decides that he’s not giving her up no matter what, while Olivia is so hurt and angry with him that she doesn’t want anything to do with him. These are two strong willed characters who make choices out of the need to protect themselves and their hearts. Ultimately, their heats win out, but the journey to get there is full of bumps and turns. These are relatable characters who have you pulling for them to find their way to each other and their happily ever after.
The narrator wasn't bad; at times I had difficulty differentiating between the male voices, but otherwise truly enjoyed listening to this book.

Too many references to the hero's muscular thighs
I couldn't even finish this one. Where I liked the heroine, I found it unimaginable that she would be attracted to him after the way he treated her. The plot drags on rather toward the middle.
Also, I found the voices the narrator tries to use inconsistent and irritating.

Unfortunately I couldn’t finish it
I tried, but the performance ruined the story. Made it difficult to immerse/ connect with the characters the narrator was too comical / unbelievable.
Unfortunate- I think the story may have been an interesting one. I may read the book myself.

Hero is a rapist
So the hero is disgusting, sexually harassed the heroine for most chapters in what must be the most repetitive plot I’ve read in months, and has now got her drunk so he can finally have sex with her. I could get behind some dubcon sex if this is was a fun erotica fantasy, but the author seems to have no awareness she is writing a rape and seems to think this has all been adorable sexy and fun banter and sexual tension. As soon as he started groping her on that horse, my vagina shrivelled up from sheer disgust. Nope to all of this. The book is both disgusting and boring. DNF with 2 hours left. I hope the heroine does fuck off to Italy; I wish her luck in her concert career. Also, I want to point out that the author calls the heroine trained “as a classical pianist”. It’s the CLASSICAL PERIOD RIGHT NOW. You don’t call it that. They just called it a pianist. Jesus.
