The Epistle of Barnabas
À propos de cet audio
The Epistle of Barnabas is commonly categorized among the apostolic fathers alongside the writings of St. Clement, St. Ignatius, and St. Polycarp. This epistle can be dated near the end of the first century and was considered important by many of the early church fathers. It was most likely addressed to new Jewish believers in response to the growing heresy that the Old Law was still necessary for salvation.
A good example of how the early church interpreted the Old Testament, The Epistle of Barnabas explains how the Jewish law finds its true fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Furthermore, according to the author, the Old Law cannot be correctly understood in terms of the physical practice of it, but must be read allegorically toward its fulfillment in the Messiah.

A beautiful and uplifting read for every Christian!
While not finally being classified as “scripture” the epistle of Barnabas was for many years considered by many early Christians to be held in the same category as the writings of Paul and Peter. Not to be confused with the gnostic and heretical “Gospel of Barnabas”, the “Epistle of Barnabas” was most likely written by the biblical Barnabas himself and Carrie’s many sound and orthodox encouragements to the church of his day and believers today alike! This “son of encouragement” truly lifts the spirits and displays his deep appreciation and love for his Savior and the Saints!
While using an allegorical approach to much of the OT, which may not be found favorable to our modern ears, the lessons he draws are nearly all beneficial (save for a few cultural oddities).
A great listen for any Christian!
