À propos de cet audio
How to get good with money, even if you have no idea where to start.
The Financial Diet is the personal finance book for people who don't care about personal finance. Whether you're in need of an overspending detox, buried under student debt, or just trying to figure out how to live on an entry-level salary, The Financial Diet gives you tools to make a budget, understand investments, and deal with your credit. Chelsea Fagan has tapped a range of experts to help you make the best choices for you, but she also knows that being smarter with money isn't just about what you put in the bank. It's about everything — from the clothes you put in your closet, to your financial relationship habits, to the food you put in your kitchen (instead of ordering in again). So The Financial Diet gives you the tools to negotiate a raise and the perfect cocktail recipe to celebrate your new salary.
The Financial Diet will teach you:
- How to get good with money in a year.
- The ingredients everyone needs to have a budget-friendly kitchen.
- How to talk about awkward money stuff with your friends.
- The best way to make (and stick to!) a budget.
- How to take care of your house like a grown-up.
- What the hell it means to invest (and how you can do it).

This book has a very specific audience
This book is pretty standard - it repackages the same kinds of advice you hear elsewhere to a new clientele. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as you're in the group who appreciates Fagan's point of view.
The book uses explicit language liberally, especially at the beginning which caught me off-guard in a finance book, and for me, the language did not add any value to the context.
The book comes off as preachy here and there as Fagan criticizes people in general for judging others about their finances, and then proceeds to say that cranky, old financial experts say that you should give up your daily latte, but you don't have to listen to them. Doesn't that also count as being judgmental?
I was listening to the book thinking that we weren't really breaking any new ground, and then they started reading recipes. Okay, that's new ground, but not ground I wanted in a finance book.
This book is for you if you subscribe to the author's philosophy of "don't give up your daily latte, reward the achievement of your financial goals along the way with a 'fancy massage', and get a side hustle or two to pay for it all." Not for me, thanks.

Crazy basic
Read if you have absolutely zero relationship or understanding of money. Much better options out there to look at.

Great advice and hard truths
Overall a good listen and undoubtedly helpful for anyone. Directed at young women specifically though the advice is universal.

Rudimentary Concepts of Money
There is a lot of heart, hardwork and sources that went into this book. I think the spectrum was just too broad and went far too granular. The description would probably be more accurately described as 'Finances 101: A Female Perspective to Learn the Rudimentary Concepts of Money'.
I didn't need to hear about opinions on 'Sex and the City', hear a Key Lime Pie recipe read out, or hear specifics of wardrobe suggestions and the hand bag that you chose and how it made you feel like a "boss bitch".
The beginning was the best part with actual solid concepts to consider and adopt.
