It’s the Last Kingdom series, thirteen books
You need to start with the first book . The Last Kingdom. This is book ten , by now I’m used to the different narrator. The first four books use a different narrator. Both of the narrators are good , but it’s difficult to get used to a different narrator so far into the series , eventually I did. There were nine books left, if you are going to keep listening , you have too. Great series, best historical fiction I’ve ever listened too. Every book in the series is as good as the first one. Just start with book one. I’m going to be so disappointed when I finally finished book thirteen

A fantastic series and we'll read, the one thing I lament from the paper edition is the lack of the authors Historical note. Somthing that accompanies all his works and clarifies his revisions to the history contained within the book's.

Excellent. Great storytelling
I'm obsessed with this story, and was hesitant at first to try an audio version (after reading the other 9 obsessively). I prefer if the author reads their own story. But the person chosen couldn't have done it better. I honestly can't even tell what the reader's original accent was, because he does each character so well.
