Histoire
Most mothers have experienced exhaustion, pain, forgetfulness, indecision, low energy levels, moodiness, or some form of baby brain. And it's no wonder: The process of growing a baby depletes a mother's body in substantial ways. But with postnatal care ending after six weeks, most women never learn how to rebuild their strength and care for their bodies after childbirth. As a result, they can suffer from the effects of depletion for many years, without knowing what's wrong as well as getting the support and treatments that they need.

Must read!
Absolutely loved this book! I was a little late to the party as I’m almost done my fourth trimester with my second babe, but omg! This was the book I needed before having my first and reading through it now, has helped give me the tools to heal from traumatic parts of that birth.
This book is a tool for soon to be moms AND their partners. So important to have an idea of what fourth trimester (and parenthood) can be and what it can require from you. Wish I had, had this book sooner but grateful for its knowledge now and to be able to pass it on to others ☺️

Exactly what postpartum women need
This book resonated with me in more ways than I can describe. As a mom of a 3 year old, with a newborn in my arms, I was looking for the language to describe my postpartum journey. I felt unsettled with my thoughts and experience; The ups and down and challenges and triumphs. As I listened, it was like Kimberly was reading my mind. This book is real and vulnerable and powerful. Please take the time ❤️ your heart/heart/ and soul won’t regret it.

Wish I read it before birth
Wish I read this before birth as I was no way prepared for postpartum recovery. I had no idea how destroyed my body would be and how much rest I needed and how hard it’d be to manage a crying baby, lack of sleep, pain, emotions from hormonal changes etc. I was a crying mess. Some great wisdom here. My recovery didn’t go so smoothly. Only wish she addressed issues like fears around vaginal looseness. Other than that a good start with mentioned specialists if you need further help.

Not as helpful as I'd hoped
Firstly, the narration was hard for me to listen to. The author somewhat has the voice, cadence, and pacing of an 8th grader reading a book report. I don't mean that to be offensive, it's just how it came across to me personally. That aside, the book was very repetitious, and felt a bit narcissistic. It catered more to people that are more spiritually inclined, especially leaning towards eastern, and Ayurvedic medicine and practices. A lot of emphasis put on post natal care for the mother, while sounding wonderful, is not accessible for everyone. Many people do not have the familial suppourt, or financial excess to hire doulas, pelvic floor care specialists, and a masseuse. I was hoping more for grounded 4th trimester help for the general population. I appreciate that the author would certainly have connected with many people, just not my cup of ancient herbs hand picked by monks from sacred grounds on a mountain.
