À propos de cet audio
Robin Loxleigh and his sister Marianne are the hit of the Season, so attractive and delightful that nobody looks behind their pretty faces.
Until Robin sets his sights on Sir John Hartlebury's heiress niece. The notoriously graceless baronet isn't impressed by good looks, or fooled by false charm. He's sure Robin is a liar - a fortune hunter, a card sharp, and a heartless, greedy fraud - and he'll protect his niece, whatever it takes.
Then, just when Hart thinks he has Robin at his mercy, things take a sharp left turn. And as the grumpy baronet and the glib fortune hunter start to understand each other, they also find themselves starting to care - more than either of them thought possible.
But Robin's cheated and lied and let people down for money. Can a professional rogue earn an honest happy ever after?
Contains mature themes.
©2021 KJ Charles (P)2021 TantorIt was fun how expectations were constantly undercut and no one did quite what you expected them to do (or possibly what they themselves thought they were going to do, lol) as they figured out how to follow their hearts (even if their hearts led to mathematics!) Supporting characters and main characters were just so much fun to read. I couldn't tell how it was going to come to a happy ending until it did, and it was a truly lovely resolution. This was a joy to read and listen to.
Fabulous regency romance with unlikely heroes

Cheeky, witty, and flawed, the characters have depth enough to give weight to the story and keep you invested in the outcome of their lives.
The narrator does a fantastic job of distinguishing his voices for each character. His voice is warm and well rounded generally, but he has a really decent range in the voices/accents he can pull off.
The one and only gripe I have is that one or two (minor) character voices feel “off” or awkward to me? Not enough to enjoy the book any less! Just enough for me to notice and be a bit distracted by in the moment.
Basically:
I’m quite stiff in trying to write this review but I really liked this book and really like this author and really like this narrator.
Would and will recommend this to a friend!
KJ Charles and Cornell Collins!!!

An absolute gem

This is a lighthearted Regency, but also an observation of an apparently impossible romance within the confines of the societal mores of those times, which also explores at the need for security (emotionally as well as financially) for those that do not have it.
One of the later chapters has the most transcendently enjoyable verbal take down that was annihilating yet completely fulfilled the implicit etiquette of public discourse amongst the upper echelons of society delivered with verve by the narrator. Totally joyous listening.
Witty, Sexy, Romantic - Completely Fabulous!
