À propos de cet audio
The Driver:
Ahead he could see only the stretch of unending road, on either side brown-scorched plains of dirt and scrub, above it all a soaring blue sky and blinding sun. Desolation that looked, to him, a hell of a lot like freedom. He wasn’t playing by anyone’s rules anymore.
The Hitchhiker:
Have you ever done something bad? The question was like a clawed hand seizing his guts. It had taken everything he’d had not to whimper, to cower away and beg. But as he’d deflected, he’d told himself to stay calm. To be in control. He had to be in control here.
The Fugitive:
She’d made a mistake. Wasn’t the first time and wouldn’t be the last. Ever since she’d left, all she’d found was more trouble. More fights. More secrets. More scars. Now here she was, still alive but a long way from anywhere, and with options dwindling fast.
From the award-winning author of The Hunted comes a fast-paced outback thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

“A terrifying tale of violence, fear and loneliness, as achingly tender as it is nail-bitingly tense. The perfect listen for your next road trip.” (Anna Downes, author of The Safe Place)
"Two things I will never do again after devouring The Hitchhiker: miss a book by Gabriel Bergmoser; ever get in a car with him..." (Benjamin Stevenson, author of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone)

Twisty Australian Psychological-Suspense
Award-winning Melbourne playwright Gabriel Bergmoser offers a harrowing journey across the Outback.. following intriguing characters (driver, hitchhiker, road encounter) with gritty, dark, astounding secrets.
Bergmoser is a little heavy on the pathological aspects of the characters but reveals their respective motives with masterful flashbacks (the author builds tension most effectively). Additionally, his vocabulary/prose is creditable, his dialogue is sometimes a bit overdramatic but realistic, and his description skills are commendable. The book is well-written.
As to presentation: the trio of Aussie Readers (Lee Cormie, Stevie McKeon, and Gyton Grantley) are all excellent - elevating the book. The reader narrating the 'Hitchhiker'/'Jessie' character is a little bit too mechanical, but I enjoyed all three performances (each one tackling a different character POV).. Audible Originals Inc. cast this project wonderfully.
Altogether, 'The Hitchhiker' rates 8.5 stars out of 10. The premise of these people randomly meeting to yield horrific/graphic ends strains credulity (the book requires a significant suspension of disbelief - and occasionally falls short of facilitating that).
It's still an entertaining 'Plus' selection, though.. providing a great distraction for a quiet afternoon. If Audible asks for a Credit, however, your money may be spent better elsewhere.

Trauma & psychology that evolve into a thriller!
This story, written by Gabriel Bergmoser, is quite slow moving, matched in pace by the narrators, Lee Cormie, Stevie McKeon, and Gyton Grantley. Very evocative of the Australian Outback, and there are some lovely twists - especially the ending! Trauma and psychology evolve into a thriller!
