looking forward to book 2
I really enjoyed this start to a new series from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. I LOVED The Strain so I'm hoping this will be just as good!

Good story, kind of a cliche though.
Contains Spoilers: I am a fan of supernatural mysteries so this book was up my alley, so to speak. I really enjoyed the flashbacks to the 1960s and the dynamics of the first African American FBI agent encountering a supernatural mystery. These parts seemed to hold more substance. The story arc of the cursed man pining for his lost love who fights demons to save the lost love, is boring and cliche as it has been told many times.

Tense, Suspenseful, surprisingly boring
struggled to finish this one after flying through Pan's Labrynth and Shape of Water.

Very entertaining
I enjoyed this book
I hope there is a sequel.
The plot was exactly what I have come to expect from this collaboration.

What a disappointment.
Hard to believe that the two authors who penned The Strain wrote The Hollow Ones. The former is a scary, intriguing series while the latter - at least if the first book is any indication - is just silly with characters and a plot that are unoriginal and underwhelming. To make matters worse, Brittany Pressley's attempt at an English accent is just annoying.
