À propos de cet audio
The Human Magnet Syndrome: The Codependent Narcissist Trap is a complete rewrite of Ross's first book. Ross provides a more explicit rendering of The Human Magnet Syndrome, that includes new theories, explanations, and concepts. The information on Gaslighting and The Narcissistic Abuse Syndrome, like the rest of the information, is cutting edge and completely original. This audiobook contains many more case examples and stories of Ross's own codependency recovery. Like its predecessor, it is written for both the layman and professional. Men and women have been magnetically and irresistibly drawn together into romantic relationships, not so much by what they see, feel and think, but more by invisible forces.
Codependents and pathological narcissists are enveloped in a seductive dreamlike state; however, it will later unfold into a painful “seesaw” of love, pain, hope, and disappointment. The soul mate of the codependent's dreams will become the narcissist of their nightmares. Fans of The Human Magnet Syndrome will better understand why they, despite their dreams for true love, find themselves hopelessly and painfully in love with partners who hurt them.

GREAT BOOK
The book repeats its self a whole lot, but besides that it gives great advice, examples, and instructions towards understanding and treating codependency.

good book
The narrator sounds like he'd be perfect for Hollywood, but perhaps not for this particular novel. The content is slightly dry and repetitive, and the wisdom contained within it is surrounded by the author's personal sucess journey in writing this book. If it bothers you to hear anecdotal evidence kind of mixed in with non-scientificly rigorous information, just take it as a caution. (for example, at one point the author mentions finding "proof" for one of his claims... meanwhile in the scientific community there really is no "proving" something to be true, there is only evidence to support a hypothesis, which can turn into a theory if enough evidence comes to light).
Over all it seems like it's trying to appeal to both academics or professionals as well as the general population interested in self help/ pop psychology.
I believe this is why the pacing and tone are a bit hard to focus on for a long period of time.
However, that is just my own experience, and I found that speeding it up slightly was enough to remedy any pacing issue.
It is great material if you are just coming to terms with this relationship dynamic, and you are still trying to make sense of it... in that sense the repetitions can be useful to hear.
overall 3/5, nice work Ross & Roy!

a bit of a waste of time.
the book meanders around and gets very lost in a soup of acronyms. the author finally confesses in chapter 11 that despite his promises since 2013 the book contains no solutions and you have to read his next money grab of a book to actually get what you're looking for. what a waste of time. I'm sure some of this material is useful to people who are new to the subject but it really does need to be abridged to about a third of his length, and maybe start with a statement that the book is all about whats and whys with no practicable solutions.

Total must have!
Hightly recommend it for everyone
- interested in relationship dynamics and trauma,
- struggling with codependent patterns/self-love deficit,
AND for every counselor and therapist.
Society seriously needs to get educated about early childhood attachment and romantic attraction, already!

Too theoretical
His personal and patient stories were interesting. However too much clinical and technical details about compatibility. I was waiting for the punch each time. I came away from this book not knowing more than from his YouTube videos. Maybe therapist found it more insightful.
The biggest learning I have gotten from Ross and this was before reading this book however the information is in this book. Is you can be an active or passive co-dep. and you need to address the root trauma to truly move on!
So I give it 3 stars as a show of gratitude. The Performance of the book was excellent!!!
