The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon. They are all in Front Half. Others, Luke learns, graduated to Back Half, "like the roach motel," Kalisha says. "You check in, but you don't check out."
In this most sinister of institutions, the director, Mrs. Sigsby, and her staff are ruthlessly dedicated to extracting from these children the force of their extranormal gifts. There are no scruples here. If you go along, you get tokens for the vending machines. If you don't, punishment is brutal. As each new victim disappears to Back Half, Luke becomes more and more desperate to get out and get help. But no one has ever escaped from the Institute.

Love Stephen King - Santino an interesting choice
I enjoyed this book thoroughly, as with all of Kings work. I love Santino Fontana - he voices my favourite book ‘You’. Initially I did find his choice of narration slightly distracting as he chose to read the Third person narrative in the voice of the character and it got a little confusing at some points early on, I did get used to it though.

A good ending

Engrossing story
The story was addictive. The details brought it to life. The narrator was excellent bringing different accents to each character and keeping the suspense going. Great listen.

Great Narration
I couldn't stop listening to it. A great mix between books like The Talisman and The Shining. The characters were compelling to me and the story got me hooked right from the beginning.
This was very much one of my favourite listens of all time.

Classic Stephen King
This reminded me a lot more of FireStarter and Carrie. Almost more of a young adult book but I loved it.
Was it totally original - nope. But the characters were were really relatable and likeable and the suspense made me clean my kitchen twice in one
day so I could listen to more.
The violence was minimal which I appreciate although there was some.
The only slightly critical thing I can think of is that the bad guys were a bit 1 dimensional. Their reasons for being so horrible never really explained. But it really didnt take much away from the story itself.
