In the spring of 1814, Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated. I found the story well told and it had the effect of humanizing a larger than life historical figure. The narration was well paced and (when done by the author) never missed an important inflection or emphasis. I highly recommend this book for readers with or without a knowledge of Napoleon's exploits... a modicum of interest in this important historical period is the only prerequisite.
