Book review
I did indeed enjoy this book,first time reading a ken follet novel but won’t be my last.it was exciting and held interest right to the end, I like his style of writing and will get another book

Nearly Typical Follet
I’ve been reading his work for years. This one was very good... but...while I like a bit of romance with my thrillers these sex scenes seemed a bit gratuitous and slightly jarring. Rather than move the story along or provide character development they were simply annoying.

Great story
Fantastic Follett as usual with a great narration. Tim Downie has a wonderful variation with his voice that works well with all characters in the story.

Surprisingly badly written
I’ve seen these Follett books everywhere over the years obviously, but hadn’t read/ listened to any until this last week. I listened to Eye of the Needle, which was decent, with only a few distractingly unbelievable parts to the plot. Especially towards the end when I thought ‘this writer really hasn’t had much experience with boats’.
The Key to Rebecca brings sloppy plot flaws up to a new level. Among many other things I found out that the writer really really really does not know much about boats.
It is one of those books where I was left with the feeling of disappointment, because it was off to a good start. You get the sense that the author could have written something more worthwhile but just didn’t want to take the time or something (?) who knows. Anyway, obviously, it’s a very popular novel judging by its presence in all bargain store bins, so who am I to leave yet another review of it.
The narration was kind of on par with the material- sort of adequate. I payed for it. I listened to it. Water under the bridge now.
