À propos de cet audio
This survival guide for new pilots identifies the pitfalls waiting inside the killing zone, the period from 50 to 350 flight hours when they leave their instructors behind and fly as pilot in command for the first time. Although they're privately certified, many of these unseasoned aviators are unaware of the potential accidents that lie ahead while trying to build decision-making skills on their own - many times falling victim to inexperience.
Based on the first in-depth scientific study of pilot behavior and general aviation flying accidents in over 20 years, The Killing Zone, 2nd Edition offers practical advice to help identify the time frame in which you are most likely to die. Aviation specialist Paul Craig offers rare insights into the special risks new pilots face and includes updated preventive strategies for flying through the killing zone...alive:
- New to the 2nd Edition: Dealing with Glass Cockpits; GPS Moving Maps; Collision Avoidance Systems
- Alerts you to the 12 mistakes likely to kill you
- Provides guidelines for avoiding, evading, diverting, correcting, and managing dangers
- Includes a "Pilot Personality Self-Assessment Exercise" for an individualized survival strategy

Stick and Rudder is the first exact analysis of the art of flying ever attempted. It has been continuously in print for 33 years. It shows precisely what the pilot does when he flies, just how he does it, and why. Because the basics are largely unchanging, the book therefore is applicable to large airplanes and small, old airplanes and new, and is of interest not only to the learner but also to the accomplished pilot and to the instructor himself.

An underpaid, overworked certified flight instructor cheats death while attempting to teach a cast of incompetent student pilots to fly at a skeezy South Florida flight school; all in the quest to build flight time so he can get a “real job” at an airline. The planes break, the regs break, metal gets bent, students are lost at sea, and a Top Gun wannabe student, who has 400 hours of flight instruction, still hasn’t made his first solo flight.

There’s a dirty little secret about aviation maintenance: It often breaks aircraft instead of fixing them. Manifesto is the much-anticipated first audiobook from renowned aviation columnist and speaker Mike Busch. Written in typical no-nonsense style, it lays out the basis of Mike's “minimalist” maintenance philosophy for owner-flown general aviation aircraft. An owner who follows the audiobook's guidance can save a small fortune on maintenance costs and end up with a safer, more reliable aircraft.

I’m a cargo pilot. In the industry, I’m known as a “Freight Dog.” I fly canceled checks and other types of high-value cargo around the country, mostly at night, in airplanes that are older than I am. Flying freight - or “work” as we call it - in small, twin-engine aircraft is a lesser known side of the aviation world. Our day starts when banker’s hours end. Thousands of flights move millions of pounds of work from city to city every night while the rest of the country is asleep.

Five Hundred Feet Above Alaska is the story of Peter Connors, a young man who moves to Alaska in pursuit of his dream of becoming a commercial pilot. While the pilots in Alaska are known for their superior airmanship, they are also famous for their disregard of the rules that govern them. Determined to ultimately be an airline pilot in “the lower forty-eight,” Peter vows to walk the straight and narrow. Yet, when Peter is the only pilot available to rescue a comrade who crashed in the snow-covered tundra, he is forced to compromise the very ethics that define him.

Most valuable aviation book I came across so far
As a private pilot right at the centre of the killing zone, this book was very valuable and eye opener. It encouraged me to press on and take more advanced training and get my CPL and Instrument rating.

Great book but a little slow
The information shown is amazing and super helpful for pilots, but the way it’s portrayed is a little slow.
