Fantastic—this is why I love historical fiction!
An unforgettable story, beautifully told! I have read many (sometimes I think too many) novels set in WWII but I am so happy that I did not pass this up. My childhood best friend was Ukrainian and this story was an incredible way to learn more about what her parents went through and also why things continue to be such a mess in this part of our world. Thank you for what must have taken thousands of hours of research to pull this unforgettable story together. Brilliant.
