À propos de cet audio
Are history books giving us the whole story? Or is civilization far more complex and for older than we have been taught?
Our school textbooks barely mention the 6,000-year-old Sumerian civilization, yet the latest archaeological findings at sites such as Jericho, and most recently, Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, have been dated to 10,000 BC.
Civilization goes back at least another 10,000 years, if we are willing to believe what our ancestors themselves claimed.
The Lost Civilization Enigma reveals the truth about:
- Lost magnitudes to known cultures, such as the Bosnian Pyramids and the civilization of "Old Europe";
- The fabled lost "golden" cities of South America and the Amazon, which are slowly being rediscovered;
- Fascinating examples of lost technology, such as the Antikythera Device;
- Atlantis and the fact that it was a real civilization.
Analyzing historical and archaeological records, best-selling author Philip Coppens demonstrates that there is substantial evidence that civilization is far older, far more advanced, and far more special than is currently accepted. Clearly, our history books have left out a great deal!

Thought-provoking. Not Very Convincing.
This book mainly represents a forum for mavericks to assert their theories. Poorly explained archeological & anthropological discoveries (and a few documented hoaxes/frauds) pepper this book.. contending that the current (and ever-changing) scientific consensus is inflexible, dogmatic, and inquisitorial.
Unfortunately for author Phillip Coppens, ostracized amateurs or contrarians most often aren't secret geniuses who know "the truth".. they're just unqualified zealots who fully deserve their pariah status. Very few of the "results" Coppens advances in this book are falsifiable, parsimonious, or replicable. In short, no matter how you dress them up, they are NOT Science. I wasn't particularly impressed (the author's annoying habit of including obvious and admitted delusions betrays horrific editorial judgment, too).
As to presentation: Reader David Drummond injects a smidge too much emotiveness into his delivery (acting more like a storyteller than a teacher) but displays commendable diction, timbre, and cadence. His Spanish, French, and German accents are furthermore most praiseworthy.
Altogether, 'The Lost Civilization Enigma' rates 6 stars out of 10. Setting aside logic and embracing Coppens's theme of "the experts are invariably wrong" renders the book a listenable 'Plus' selection.. but when they ask for a Credit, spend it elsewhere.
ATTN PRODUCERS: Please append a PDF showing the photographs and evidence discussed in the text. This book almost 100% requires it.

opinion piece
it's a moderately compelling opinion, calling out the odd scientist stressing their opinion.. saying the author has a grasp of earth sciences would be an over estimation. someone finds a perfectly preserved pyramid in the ocean. but something happened that damaged his camera on the way home.. and he can't find it again... dude was lying.... no pyramid made of stone was magically preserved 12000 years at the bottom of the ocean.
