À propos de cet audio

A Russian princess. An extraordinary sacrifice. A captivating secret...

From the number one best-selling author of The Secret Wife, The Lost Daughter is a sweeping, moving story of the tenacity of love and the power of forgiveness. Spectacular, enthralling and romantic, Gill Paul's latest novel will stay with you forever.

1918. With the country they once ruled turned against them, the future of the Romanov family hangs in the balance. When middle daughter Maria captures the attention of two of the guards, it will lead to the ultimate choice between right and wrong....

Fifty-five years later...

Val rushes to her father's side when she hears of his troubling end-of-life confession: 'I didn't want to kill her'. As she unravels the secrets behind her mother's disappearance when she was 12 years old, she finds herself caught up in one of the world's greatest mysteries.

it was very interesting to hear another take on what happened to the Romanovs. Having visited St. Petersburg last year and seen the Winter Palace and Katherine's Palace, the author did a good job of bringing them to life, and describing Russian life at the turn of the century.

Interesting story

Stop what you are doing and read this. I love all of Gill Paul's books. I finished this one in 3 days, listening to the audiobook as I went about my days. Riviting, haunting, beautiful and heartfelt. Paul makes the characters come alive and humanizes their stories, while sticking closely to the facts. She keeps the memory of this perhaps very misunderstood family alive. Bravo.

Just wow!

I loved this book. I loved the narration of it too. An epic, haunting tale spanning decades. Made me wish against all odds, that the survival of a Romanov daughter was actually true.

Beautifully told tragic story

I could hardy set it down. Narrated beautifully. It has made me very inquisitive about the Russian history. Highly recommend it.

loved it!

I enjoyed the story and historical aspects, but the narrator's accents were disconcerting. The Russian sections were narrated with what almost sounded like a Scottish accent at times. Never a hint of anything remotely sounding Russian. I just could not place myself in Leningrad, no matter how hard I tried, while listening to a British/Scottish accent. This strongly affected my enjoyment of the book. The Aussie narration was more believable, but sometimes over the top.

Good story, weird narration
