Molly Cook is almost 30, with dismal career prospects, and has given up on saving the world. It might be the 90s, and everything's shoulder pads, Doc Martens, and The X-Files, but people won't budge on gay rights. Molly decides to give a PhD a whirl but finds herself more interested in campus politics...and her strict and sexy statistics professor.
Professor Carmen Vaughn is stuck in small-town Maryland with smarmy blowhards for colleagues and ungrateful students who can't handle her high standards. She has no intention of coming out, least of all to Molly, a troublemaking grad student who can't stop picking fights with the conservative faculty.
But when Molly discovers evidence implicating a homophobic colleague in a scandal, Carmen can't ignore it - even if the subject hits too close to home. As the two women work together to make their case, they grow closer than Carmen ever imagined. But she absolutely refuses to get involved with a student.
The thing is, as the chemistry builds between them, Molly isn't sure she wants to be a grad student anymore...if she ever did.

cute, wholesome sapphic romance
gosh i loved this book! i started it on a 10 hour overnight flight, when i was supposed to be sleeping, but i sacrificed my sleep because i could not stop listening to it! yes, it had me giggling and kicking my feet (quietly) while everyone around me was asleep. i loved the slow burn. the plot, nevermind the romance, was so well written. and the romance was everything i would've asked for in a wholesome sapphic novel. this is my favorite book i've read, well, listened to, this year! highly recommend!! (and as an asexual lesbian, i appreciated that it didn't dive right into intense physical intimacy, compared to most other sapphic books i've read)

I really liked this story
Maybe it’s because I came out in college in ‘97-‘98, after watching Ellen come out and Bill Clinton being impeached, that I related with this story so well. I felt like I was reliving that summer of my life and I was hooked from the start.
I also, that summer, confessed my true feelings to my best friend when I went to her house after an argument to retrieve my favourite 90’s grunge band t-shirt that. (Nirvana, not Pearl Jam) But when I showed up to ask for it, she was wearing it and crying. I ended up spilling my guts, one thing led to another and we got married 13 years later. LoL

good story
Cute romance. I really enjoy a book that goes into a plot beyond the romance in some substantial way... otherwise romances start to feel the same after awhile. At the same time, the characters and their feelings for each other were indepth enough for it to be good as a romance as well. Lori Prince was great as always. The only problem I had with the book is I had to start it a few times because the hook was a bit buried. I enjoyed it all once I got into it and don't consider that enough of a fault to knock off a full star.
