Epilogue
Howard Pyle was born on March 5, 1853 in Wilmington, Delaware. From the time he was a very small boy he loved pictures, especially the pictures in storybooks. Among his favorites were Grimm’s German Fairy Tales and Arabian Nights.
At the age of twenty-one, Pyle began to contribute illustrations and fables to St. Nicholas magazine and later went on to write and illustrate books for children. His first was The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood in 1883. Many more books followed. He also taught illustration at the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia and later set up his own art school in Wilmington. He died on November 9, 1911, in Florence, Italy.

An Utter Delight
David Thorn brings Pyle's unfailingly ebullient text to brilliant life. His voice is perfectly suited to the old-timey English; he is like the perfect grandfather in the red wingback chair by the fireplace, and we are blessed to be his grandchildren. Lively, light, and such fun.

campy, cute, with a hear breaking ending.
manny people have grown up hearing at least 1 version of Robin Hood. I was recommend Howard Pyles works ad the quintessential compiled collection of Robing Hood stories. As the author states in the beginning. it not a factual serous story, but one of marry adventure. where famous names of the time period are put together into a wonderful children's story.
the songs and music are very campy and not very well done, but still give me a giggle.
David Thorndid an amazing job as narrator. thank for the addition to my Audible library

Great!
This is a wonderful adaptation of the classic by H. Pyle. Do not expect a "hollywood-ized" version, but a very well narrated story with the various ballads sung. The language took a few passages to get used to, but it was smooth sailing after, which made for a transportation back in time and a joy to listen.
