À propos de cet audio
Since the publication of her first novel, in 1920, more than two billion copies of Agatha Christie's books have been sold around the globe. Now, for the first time ever, the guardians of her legacy have approved a brand-new novel featuring Dame Agatha's most beloved creation, Hercule Poirot.
"I'm a dead woman, or I shall be soon.…"
Hercule Poirot's quiet supper in a London coffeehouse is interrupted when a young woman confides to him that she is about to be murdered. She is terrified - but begs Poirot not to find and punish her killer. Once she is dead, she insists, justice will have been done.
Later that night, Poirot learns that three guests at a fashionable London Hotel have been murdered, and a cufflink has been placed in each one’s mouth. Could there be a connection with the frightened woman? While Poirot struggles to put together the bizarre pieces of the puzzle, the murderer prepares another hotel bedroom for a fourth victim....

Histoire
A gripping collection of 15 BBC Radio full-cast dramas written by Bert Coules, inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories. In the 56 short stories and four novels Arthur Conan Doyle wrote about his great detective, how many times did Dr John Watson tantalise us with references to cases which were never written about in full? These original adventures flesh out those unrecorded cases to wonderful effect. Clive Merrison plays the great sleuth himself, with Andrew Sachs in the role of Doctor Watson.

Enjoy the first novels that brought the world two of Agatha Christies’ most enduring detectives: Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. The Murder at the Vicarage is the first Miss Marple mystery, one which tests all her powers of observation and deduction. In The Mysterious Affair at Styles, Captain Arthur Hastings, invalided in the Great War, is recuperating as a guest of John Cavendish at Styles Court, the "country-place" of John's autocratic old aunt, Emily Inglethorpe.

too convoluted
good narration generally except when he dropped his voice too low, making it difficult to hear.
story tried way too hard to be clever - too many silly clues such as exact phrasing of a sentence or a painting partially painted over...and a lot of repetition as if the writer needed filler or didn't trust the intelligence of the reader.
will not get another of the series.

Not the same
While this is a decently well written mystery, I noticed two things that just weren’t good.
1. There is a lot of “explaining” expressed through characters thinking through, talking through or literally explaining parts of the mystery. But SO much of the book is taken up with pointless repetition in “explaining” the significant points that the story really doesn’t move forward. Even in the end, all the loose ends are still not well wrapped up. I was very disappointed with that aspect.
And 2. Poirot is written convincingly but the narrator of the story is really annoying. He seems to have issues with everything, from his job to every person he interacts with. It was a frustrating story to read because the narrator was so constantly frustrated. And, it seemed, he was kind of stupid, especially for an inspector and friend of Poirot.
Overall, not a great addition to the series.

Poirot wasn’t a jerk like this
Christie’s Poirot is often sarcastic and wry, but this Poirot is frequently downright mean. This author does a much better job getting the character right in her Christmas Poirot story… in this one he’s frequently a jerk.

I enjoyed the story and the performance. However, it is impossible to listen to using earbud headphones because of the volume of the characters. If you turn it up to hear Priorot’s whispers you get blasted a few seconds later.

Opened well...narration fine...but without wit and tediously long denouement. Overwrought and boring and diluted. Someone needed to cut a lot out but it was obviously sold by the word count.
