À propos de cet audio
From the author of the breakout thriller Every Last Fear, comes Alex Finlay's electrifying next audiobook The Night Shift, about a pair of small-town murders 15 years apart - and the ties that bind them.
“The night was expected to bring tragedy.” So begins one of the most highly-anticipated thrillers in recent years.
It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Y2K is expected to end in chaos: planes falling from the sky, elevators plunging to earth, world markets collapsing. A digital apocalypse. None of that happens. But at a Blockbuster Video in New Jersey, four teenagers working late at the store are attacked. Only one inexplicably survives. Police quickly identify a suspect, the boyfriend of one of the victims, who flees and is never seen again.
Fifteen years later, more teenage employees are attacked at an ice cream store in the same town, and again only one makes it out alive.
In the aftermath of the latest crime, three lives intersect: the lone survivor of the Blockbuster massacre who’s forced to relive the horrors of her tragedy; the brother of the fugitive accused, who’s convinced the police have the wrong suspect; and FBI agent Sarah Keller who must delve into the secrets of both nights - stirring up memories of teen love and lies - to uncover the truth about murders on the night shift.
Twisty, poignant, and redemptive, The Night Shift is a story about the legacy of trauma and how the broken can come out on the other side, and it solidifies Finlay as one of the new leading voices in the world of thrillers.

No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen’s new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story...until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.

My husband is dead. I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car. My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.

Meh..
Sometimes, I found my mind wandering rather than paying attention to what was going on. Overall, decent listen. Not the best, certainly not the worst. At times you're thinking "omg! what next" and other times you aren't even paying attention.

Beginning is good..then drags
I originally heard the beginning on my friends audible and never finished it. The beginning was so good that I always kept it on my list to finish. Unfortunately the story becomes very convoluted with random characters. The story really starts to drag and I only finished it because of the beginning. Things come out of leftfield, and for me it almost felt as though the author just threw the ending together.

Worth a listen
It’s a good story that lags a bit here and there. Some of the performance is a bit much, especially near the end with the FBI agent. The character progression is ok and there’s a sad bit that you may or may not be expecting.
