As one listens it is hard not to be incredulous. From the Western perspective it’s seems almost inconceivable that people believe the propaganda that drives the North Korean people. The narrator is simply outstanding and convincing throughout as he gives a unique voice to each character.

Found the narrative hard to follow in parts. Was going to put it down but listened to the end. I don’t recommend it. It’s totally dismal. There wasn’t a single character to root for.

This book was painful. It made me want to quit my book club, look up and appreciate where I really am in life. If you find this book interesting in any way, you need a real (not imaginary) vacation!!
