À propos de cet audio
Rachel Stoltzfus never imagined she’d be the talk of her Old Order Mennonite community until whispers stir the moment her belly swells with new life. Unmarried and refusing to repent by naming the partner in her sin, Rachel feels the wrath of the religious sect as she is shunned by those she loves most and eventually forced to leave - driven out by her twin sister’s husband, the bishop.
But secrets run deep in this cloistered community, and the bishop is hiding some of his own, threatening his conscience and his very soul. When the life of Rachel’s baby is at stake, choices must be made that will bring the darkness to light, forever changing the lives of those who call Copper Creek home.

Exquisite
This is my second visit with this novel and I was again mesmerized by Petersheim exquisite prose & Tavia Gilbert’s narration.
While the cover hints at an Amish/Mennonite subject matter, it is not at all like the mind numbing, over done, stories of shunning.
Nothing is predictable but entirely believable. It is an example of how taking ownership of one’s own motives & actions, and the path of destruction they cause, can be turned into forgiveness and liberty. What sets this story apart is that the consequences of destructive behaviour is not erased, or resolved; but that it can be lived with. And that living is not cheap, it does carry a price that is so often glossed over. Well done Ms. Petersheim!
