À propos de cet audio
The first comprehensive user guide to GLP-1s (such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Zepbound) with an overview of how they work and possible side effects. Also including companion recipes, exercise guidance, and new habits to maintain lifelong health and keep weight off for good.
The newest class of weight loss drugs (GLP-1s) are complete game-changers in their potential to reverse obesity and its related diseases, with nearly 50% of Americans qualifying for the use of these drugs. Already 1 in 8 Americans say they’ve tried a GLP-1 medication—but with many acquiring their prescription from online pharmacies, med spas, and general practitioners, they face a huge gap between trying the drug and achieving their health goals with it long-term.
That’s where The Ozempic Revolution comes in. Alexandra Sowa, MD, a leading obesity medicine specialist, shares her expertise on this much-discussed but largely misunderstood class of medications, including information like:
- What the GLP-1 experience really feels like
- How to know if you’re a candidate for these medications
- How to get a prescription and get it covered by insurance
- How to manage and reduce unwanted side effects
- Unique food plans and strategies for managing the mental challenges of losing weight
- Simple, easy recipes for when you don’t feel like eating
Traditional and social media has been flooded with junk information and stigmatizing headlines about GLP-1s, and in this book, Dr. Sowa digs into all of it—the good, the bad, and the ugly—bringing the science to light.
If you’re curious about how GLP-1s might fit into your life, or want to optimize your experience while taking them, then Dr. Sowa’s clear-eyed, fully informed approach is a must-hear. The Ozempic revolution changes everything: these drugs finally provide a viable, healthy, and sane way to lose weight, avoid disease, and maintain your health gains for life.

Must listen!
I purchased the audiobook (via Audible, narrated by the author herself) to gain insight into how a medical doctor specializing in obesity medicine approaches weight loss. As a family nurse practitioner already familiar with this class of medications, I expected to expand my perspective- and I’ve gained so much more than that.
First, you don’t need a medical background to appreciate this book. Dr. Sowa’s writing is accessible, engaging, and deeply personal. It reads like a memoir of her clinical experience in obesity medicine, enriched with concise summaries of data and science.
Unlike many medical texts, Dr. Sowa's style is warm and intriguing while remaining evidence-based. She weaves personal anecdotes, patient stories, and years of research to illustrate how factors like metabolic health, genetics, environment, and societal influences contribute to obesity. By doing so, she weakens that stigma of shame that is so often associated with obesity, especially when the standard “diet and exercise” advice doesn’t yield results.
I didn’t anticipate how much I would learn - or feel - from The Ozempic Revolution! Though I don’t struggle with obesity, personal history with disordered eating made parts of this book resonate deeply- I am finding myself nodding along to the narration. Dr. Sowa’s observations about unhealthy relationships with food, unsustainable exercise routines (which can feel like self-punishment in hindsight), and yo-yo dieting culture felt like affirmations for my own experiences.
This book goes far beyond its title. It’s not just about a class of medications that have revolutionized sustainable weight loss and reduced health risks for so many- it’s an exploration of obesity as a medical condition that provokes thoughtfulness, empathy, and understanding. It is a guide grounded in science, and a collection of personal testimonies that inspire hope for a healthier future, with the help of medical treatment.
Without hesitation, I’ll be recommending The Ozempic Revolution to my patients and colleagues.
