While I was sad to see this series ending, I absolutely loved this conclusion. This book had me laughing constantly and enjoying seeing how far the characters had all come together.

Ryland has always been the protector in his family, doing whatever needed to be done to take care of those he loves at the expense of his own dreams and goals. Taking care of his niece Mackenzie it was no different. This made it extra special to finally see him get his happily ever after.

I absolutely loved Gabby’s character. She was a firecracker, strong and independent who knew the challenges of putting someone else before yourself. She wasn’t afraid to ask for what she wanted, put herself out there, and was always ready with a whitty or sarcastic comment.

This book really was the whole package and a great conclusion to this series. Not only was it a great story of two deserving people finding love but it was also lighthearted and fun banter between characters, hilarious family group text chains, sweet and tender moments between an uncle and his niece as they navigate their new life, spice so hot you’ll need an ice cream to cool down 😉🌶️🍦, and an epilogue that still makes me cry even thinking about it.

The duet audio narration by Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York was so good! They sounded so great together and really brought the characters to life. And A+ to Samantha Brentmoor during those spicy scenes because woo did she ever sell it!

I’m so glad I picked up this series. I highly recommend it not only because it’s got some great romance but because everyone can use a laugh and a smile. This series is definitely going to give that.

Loved the narrators, they definitely made the 10 + hours of storyline more manageable. The storyline is very sweet and I love both male and female main characters. What a heartwarming story!

I cried happy tears FOUR times! 4! The book had Meghan Quinn’s usual spice and cheeky banter, but it was so much more. It was about family and sacrifices and feeling pride when those you love are succeeding at life.

Be prepared to feel all the feels

And Meghan Quinn does it again! Ryland and Gabby, two broken people who have been through so much in their life come together and navigate their attraction for each other. What started as a one night stand turns into so much more. Their chemistry is off the charts and in true Meghan Quinn’s fashion, the banter is everything. Amazing and I highly recommend this book. It is spicy as hell and oh so good! I rate it 5 Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 rounded up because the story itself was almost perfect - I absolutely LOVED this book — definitely my fave MQ I’ve read thus far. A slow burn this is not, and I was ever so grateful as that’s exactly what I needed at the time (coming off my slumpiest of DNF slumps).

Ryland and Gabby both come from tough upbringings, and will do everything they can for the ones they love. They were both mature, well-developed characters who went through beautiful moments of growth that had me feeling all the feels. Meghan’s approach to telling their story was one of the rare times where the will they/won’t they dynamic didn’t drive me insane because it felt like their reasons for holding back were well-thought out and rooted in legitimate concerns.

I was ready to rate this book a solid 5 with no notes, but the epilogue threw me for a loop (details on that below).

And since this was an audiobook, the narrators and their performances factored into my overall rating. This is probably a hugely unpopular opinion, but Sebastian York is just not for me. This is my second time listening to an audiobook he’s narrated and I just can’t get past the feeling that he sounds like somebody’s nerdy dad (in a 50+ literally your dad way and not the hot single dad way of the character he was performing in this book). This really downgraded the experience for me and made the spicy scenes feel more creepy than sexy at times.

—Epilogue Spoilers Below—
The epilogue is presented from Ryland’s perspective (at least?) two decades later and is set at Mac’s wedding. I’ve never encountered an epilogue this far in the future and while it was very sweet, it just felt too disconnected from the rest of the book (perhaps better as downloadable bonus content). When it was clear the setting was a wedding, I thought it was Gabby and Ryland’s — and would have preferred this to be the case.

Loved the whole thing. The male narrator reminded me of Eeyore, and that was a little off putting but I got past it and overall this is my favourite MQ book to date. So spicy! But it all worked and loved the ending 😍

this was so good Ryland being the grumpy dad sure has a dominant potty mouth in the bedroom!! and the scene where they're playing with Mac and Ryland takes a sword to his junk had me laughing out loud!! the spice was so good what a great ending to Almond Bay
