Kevin Fraser and his pregnant wife, JL, fly in his Cessna to enjoy a weekend at Mallory Plantation in Virginia, but wind shear turns Kevin's textbook landing into a disaster and the plane through a chain-link fence, injuring JL and sending her into premature labor.
Pete Parrino, VP of Global Security for MacKlenna Corporation, is in Florence on business when he stumbles upon Sophia Orsini’s art studio. Sophia is the love of Pete’s life, and he hasn’t seen or heard from her in 20 years. When he discovers she hasn’t returned from her annual two-week holiday, he breaks into her studio and finds evidence that she’s a time traveler.

I loved the story BUT …
I was not pleased with the narrator. The voices, especially Elliot, but all Scottish people were not good and so very far off from what we have listened to in the first 8 books. That being said I like the story very much and look forward to the next one.

Miss the old narrator
Took a long time to get used to this new narrator. Story was also slow to get started and over contrived.
Still a fun read but not as good as previous books in the series

Preferred previous narrator
Good story line again. You can almost always figure out the ending but always interesting & like how historical events are added in story. Preferred the previous narrator though

overall very good
at the start of the book, I was not happy with the narrator. her Scottish accent were terrible and inconsistent. As the book went on as all of her other voices and accents were quite good. By the end of the book I was enjoying her voice. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

Another good story
It was hard not to hear the original voices , but i did like the story. A great series i would recommend it for entertainment purposes for sure. It would be perfect for traveling or just putting your feet up with a good book.

Book 9
Interesting twists and turns. Disconcerting to hear a different narrator's voice which changed all the accents. It's starting to get difficult to remember all the couples and their children.

narrator may have ruined book...
the book itself seemed to run off in to tangents that seemed to only just fill pages without any contributions to the story. As far as the narrator...unfortunately the change in narrators was a mistake...it was very difficult to continue on with the book...seemed very robotic and accents continually changed for the characters so you where second guessing which character was speaking...at one moment Gabriel's accent was Italian and the next it a french accent...very frustrating

unfortunate change of narrator
I started listening to the brooch series & love them however I am struggling to listen to the narrator the change is terrible .
I will only continue to listen to the next books if the original narrator is back otherwise I will not spend money on the next book, I am very disheartened as I was enjoying the series

Not as good
I felt there was a lot of repetition of the story line, it moved slow, to much history and I had a REALLY negative time with the narrator. The characters I knew from other books had changed dramatically because of voice and how they said things. And It was as if the author was in a hurry to fill the pages. I have listened to the other books a few times but this one I had to skip through. Sorry it just didn’t compare.
