À propos de cet audio
The Pecan Man is a beautiful work of Southern fiction whose first chapter was the first-place winner of the 2006 CNW/FFWA Florida State Writing Competition in the unpublished novel category.
In the summer of 1976, recently widowed and childless, Ora Lee Beckworth hires a homeless old black man to mow her lawn. The neighborhood children call him the Pee-can Man; their mothers call them inside whenever he appears. When the police chief's son is found stabbed to death near his camp, the man Ora knows as Eddie is arrested and charged with murder. Twenty-five years later, Ora sets out to tell the truth about the Pecan Man. In narrating her story, Ora discovers more about herself than she could ever have imagined. This novel has been described as To Kill a Mockingbird meets The Help.

The 2022 version of Harper Lees novel
Have times really changed look at Black-lives Matter and the dangerous Trump era. Lest we forget not only both World Wars but the existence of slavery and the holocaust done at the hands of the Nazi’s.
Bravo for your story and creating such a bitter sweet but beautiful ending I did shed a tear.
Thank you
Samia your reader 👏❤️

Outstanding!
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The writing was excellent, the characters were believable and thought-provoking to be sure. The narration was one of the best parts. Really helped to set the story in its time and place. Highly recommend.

Heartwarming, slow-paced but FANTASTIC!
This book stayed with me long after the last chapter ended. It still haunts me in small ways as if written about people I knew or knew of. It leaves you with an almost palpable feeling, like a taste in your mouth that you just can't identify. But that isn't unpleasant.
The characters were very well developed and believable of the era and for being human. It gave me all the big feels that novels of great calibre tend to do.
Great storyline, fantastically rounded out characters and true to life situations make this a novel hard to put down (or in my case, stop listening to!)
It reminds me in some ways of the storyline in the movie A Time to Kill. Only a small comparison, mostly setting and subject similarity.

Full of unexpected
I loved this book. The story was compelling with flawed characters making it feel true. Lies were told with good intentions at heart, but lives were changed forever.
The main character making mistakes while her heart was in the right place, taught me a lot while she herself was learning why what she said, did or thought was racist.
I thank the author for all she taught me.
The narration was very good.

Good Book
I read this book based on reviews for the novel itself and the audible version. The audible was a very good performance and I enjoyed the narration and voices. The story is a good solid plot with interesting characters that was very plausible for the time period the story is set.

Hopeful
This novel tells a story we all kind of know. Hatred, racism, systemic privilege and systemic advantage paid for by the bodies and minds of descendants of slaves. Miz Ora is but one voice but her choice not to look away is a small bit of hope that North America can survive its dirty disgusting behaviour.
