À propos de cet audio
A modern-day homicide detective is working as an undertaker's assistant in Victorian Scotland when a serial poisoner attacks the men of Edinburgh and leaves their widows under suspicion.
Edinburgh, 1869: Modern-day homicide detective Mallory Atkinson is adjusting to her new life in Victorian Scotland. Her employers know she’s not housemaid Catriona Mitchell—even though Mallory is in Catriona’s body—and Mallory is now officially an undertaker’s assistant. Dr. Duncan Gray moonlights as a medical examiner, and their latest case hits close to home. Men are dropping dead from a powerful poison, and all signs point to the grieving widows… the latest of which is Gray’s oldest sister.
Poison is said to be a woman’s weapon, though Mallory has to wonder if it’s as simple as that. But she must tread carefully. Every move the household makes is being watched, and who knows where the investigation will lead.
New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong is known for her exquisite world building, and this latest series is no exception. The Poisoner's Ring brings the intricacies of Victorian Scotland alive as Mallory again searches for a 19th-century killer as well as a way home.

Found it confusing and inconsistent
Every once in a while we hear about the "poisoner's ring" which is the premise ofnthe book?, badly explained and, if it really does have anything to do with the first 2 murders, they are almost completely ignored. I am 1/2 through this book and I've listened to many Armstrong books but feel this is a super weak story where the characters are used to push forward a badly plotted story. I loved the first one, disappointed in this one.

Very Enjoyable
I especially loved the Fight Club quote. great story...I do have one small thing to add about photography then. By the mid 1850s, photos didn't really take long, with proper lighting. People back then didn't smile because you were seen as being crazy / mad for smiling at nothing for no reason. Also, people had posed / sat for long periods for portraits prior to photography, and that transcended into the stoic poses of early photography. There are lots of examples of silly photos during that time, it's just that when you are paying a lot of money for a good photo, you will choose the one that is the most appropriate to display or give out. My own experience with clients is they will choose what grandmother wants over what they prefer for their final choice. Even if you had to sit for a few seconds to pose back then, you can hold a smile that long. (sorry, this is one of those myths I try to bust whenever possible) The very early photography (1830s, mostly) did require you to sit for long periods, so the myth isn't totally wrong.

Pretty good story
It was a decent story. Not really riveting but interesting nonetheless. The time period in medical forensic history was most interesting.

Good narrator and story. I enjoyed it
Another good story of a 20th century female detective who gets trapped back in time. I didn't guess the killer correctly despite how sure I was right. Good and realistic characters and interesting story and mystery. I liked it.

Very exciting mystery
I felt the book was riveting and kept me listening. I didn’t expect the ending to turn out the way it did and I really enjoyed the twists and turns. The reader did a very good job!

Really enjoyed
Smooth plot that rolled out well
The slow burn of the friendship and romance plays so well with the mystery. Another excellent read by Ms Armstrong.

Fun and entertaining
Sweet, light and fun. A middle tale the keeps the momentum going at a steady pace. It might be a long game but I’m happy to play.

Good listen but story waivers
I love Kelley A’s books and Kate’s narration is spot on but this story lost momentum and got rather tedious in the middle. I skipped several chapters that seemed to drag out.
