Description
Prince Roland was on the verge of winning the war.
Assigned to New Doncaster to train the planet’s armies and lead them into battle, Roland brokered a political compromise that allowed the government to win hearts and minds once the rebels were defeated in the field. He then built a formidable military machine that could–and did–push the rebels to the brink of defeat. But Roland’s success bred hatred, and his enemies, seeing him and his loyal troops out on a limb, launched a coup and left Roland stranded deep in enemy territory.
Roland isn’t one to give up. But, with a government preparing to use desperate measures to obliterate the rebels on one side and a crude alliance of suspicious rebel factions on the other, he must act fast to save the planet...or watch helplessly as the civil war rages on.

Get you're Empires Corps fix!
Another great book in the Empires Corps series. A satisfying dose of military science fiction with great characters and satisfying story telling. A bit repetitive at points (I suspect to satisfying word count requirements) but that is my only real complaint. Excellent voice performance by Jeffrey Kafer, he really brings the story to life.
Love the series and am looking forward to more in the future.

3rd book along a side path. Or is it?
So I guess The Child Roland is important to the series after all. 3 books about him on one planet.
It wasn't bad, but it feels like advancing the plot to the detriment of the story.
It's all in a World War 2 era of technology as well. that could be really cool, but I was forced to imagine the details myself. What did the warships look like? What was the camo scheme or how were the guns laid out. French style, all in front or or 2 guns in front and as many broadside as can fit etc... It's so rich a source of content for military scifi and its just glossed over. The fighters are based on Spitfires I think I remember hearing at some point. Imagine hearing wings of those rumbling over head? Lost opportunity.
Anyway, I hope we're done with Roland for a while unless he gets a vacation book on his new planet.
What's happened on Avalon? What's the Trader Queen up to? Any more warlords? I hope so. What about that awful extinction cult and the people trying to wipe out the Marines? I'm hungry for the wider Universe. I miss it. I want more good old space battles and planetary invasions.
