À propos de cet audio
A provocative examination of how the great religious traditions can remain relevant in modern times by incorporating scientific truths learned about human nature over the last century.
A single purpose lies at the heart of all the great religious traditions: awakening to the astonishing reality of the true nature of ourselves and the universe. At the same time, through centuries of cultural accretion and focus on myth and ritual as ends in themselves, this core insight has become obscured. Here Ken Wilber provides a path for reenvisioning a religion of the future that acknowledges the evolution of humanity in every realm while remaining faithful to that original spiritual vision. For the traditions to attract modern men and women, Wilber asserts, they must incorporate the extraordinary number of scientific truths learned about human nature in just the past 100 years - for example, about the mind and brain, emotions, and the growth of consciousness - that the ancients were simply unaware of and thus were unable to include in their meditative systems. Taking Buddhism as an example, Wilber demonstrates how his comprehensive Integral Approach - which is already being applied to several world religions by some of their adherents - can avert a "cultural disaster of unparalleled proportions": the utter neglect of the glorious upper reaches of human potential by the materialistic postmodern worldview. Moreover, he shows how we can apply this approach to our own spiritual practice. This, his most sweeping work since Sex, Ecology, Spirituality, is a thrilling call for wholeness, inclusiveness, and unity in the religions of tomorrow.

Redundancy for Beginner Level
As somebody familiar with Ken Wilber's work for decades and a huge fan of his work overall, it's clear that the integral framework has changed the way I see the world and healed a lot of my cognitive dissonance. That said, as somebody who loves the integral material, I found this book very difficult to make progress on because of how repetitive it is. The same concepts are repeated dozens of times as though it wasn't clear the first time. The book will say something and then immediately say it again, and then contextualize it and then repeat it in that context, and then again review, then summary, then summarize a second time to relate it to another concept, and then again sum that up, so it feels extremely belabored. I feel like somebody's speaking as though to a two-year-old baby who lacks memory and basic mental modelling. Perhaps it was written for leaders of arcane religions in which case I applaud his effort. As someone who deeply understands the work to begin with, I found this the least compelling of all his books since it's beginner level and highly repetitive.

Terrific narrator
Terrific narrator for this monumental work. Such a good book, if you are ready for it. I read/listened to this twice. I am ready and will listen for Ken Wilber word on this topic at any time.

Needed an editor
I think this was a phenomenal book that needed an editor, desperately. The parts are great, but they are so haphazardly put together that it seems like Wilber jumps from one topic to the next. He repeats himself so often that one wonders why he spent all that time doing so on what seem to be the most inconsequential parts rather than the more important, and more complicated parts.
Despite these flaws I have to give it 4 stars because I think the information contained within this book could shape our species for decades to come.
