In the revised edition of his hit book The Sacred Search, author Gary Thomas helps single people of all ages make wise marital choices, in large part by rethinking what basis those choices should be made on.

Listeners are encouraged to think beyond finding their “soul mate", an idea that has its roots in the philosophy of Plato, and instead adopt a more biblical search for a “sole mate” - someone who will walk with them on their spiritual journey.

Thomas asks, What if we focused on why to get married more than on who to marry? What if being “in love” isn’t a good enough reason to get married? And most of all, what if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?

Listen/Read this book before dating

After listening to this audiobook, it feels like the scales have fallen from my eyes and now I understand the plans that God has for me in my future marriage. The author covers all aspects of dating/relationships, leaving no stone unturned. I have already recommended this to my sister and friends!!

This book provides you with provoking questions one needs to ask herself (me) about why do I want to get married. I’m a widow who wants to remarry and the book explores signs and flags I should pay attention to the second time around.

Needed advice on how to choose a mate!

Gary Thomas gives such wise advice on how to thoughtfully choose a future spouse! I have been married for 25 years and wish I had had such sage wisdom when picking my spouse. Marriage is hard anyway, but having these recommended points to think through makes the process of choosing who to share a life with easier. I will have our sons read these as they enter the dating years now. Thank you Gary!
