À propos de cet audio

"Big Bob" Bashara put on a respectable face. To his friends in Detroit's affluent suburb of Grosse Pointe, he was a married father of two, Rotary Club President, church usher, and soccer dad who organized charity events with his wife, Jane.

To his "slaves", he was "Master Bob", a cocaine-snorting slumlord who operated a sex dungeon and had a submissive girlfriend to do his bidding - and he wanted more slaves to serve him. But Bashara knew he couldn't rule a household of concubines on his income alone. He eyed his wife's sizable retirement account and formulated a murderous plan.

This meticulous account tells the complete story of the crime, the nationally watched investigation and trials, and the lives affected.

Not the usual rote

Usually these kinds of stories are s-so interesting but this one is different because of two factors: 1. The murderer is not front and centre for all the book and 2. The authors take wonderfully interesting tangents. I will look for more by them.

"Sufficient" Exposé

The author tandem of Detriot reporter George Hunter & wife Lynn Rosenthal provides a gripping documentation of a murder-for-hire conducted by a scumbag loser of a husband. The research and exploration are capable but unspectacular.
I very much appreciate the authors' depiction of the BDSM lifestyle as unusual but not deviant in and of itself (as must have been tempting), but de-emphasizing the most sensational aspects of the crime also left the story "meh" in toto.

Unfortunately, reader Richard Powers doesn't help the situation with a distinctly "average" narration performance, either. Don't get me wrong, Powers is a creditable professional.. he just fails to distinguish himself on this project. Blackstone Audio Inc. could have gotten a similarly effective result with any other reader in their stable.

Altogether, 'The Sadist, The Hitman, And The Murder Of Jane Bashara' rates 7/10-stars. It was a serviceable download for free, but not worth a Credit when they ask for one.

The worst narrator ever!!!

Richard Powers is the worst narrator I have heard yet. The voice he uses for quoting women makes them seem like sniveling, whimpering, pathetic creatures. I feel like he's trying to make fun of us. I feel personally attacked and it makes me angry. The story is interesting enough, but don't listen to it. If you start it, you'll want to know what happens, then you'll have to endure listening to this guy's pathetic attempt at women's voices. Save yourself. Skip this one.
